Video: Missy Elliot feat. Lil Kim -- Sock It To Me

Missy Elliot has always been innovative in the form of music and videos. Who else was doing such futuristic things in the 90's not to add the way she had Kimmy sitting in the video! I miss the 90's just for the fact every song didn't have a messy ass dance to go with them! Bring back real music please.

Staying true to The Lil Kim movement, the video for today is from "Live At The Apollo: 1996" It gives you the real Kimmy; raw, real & raunchy.

I'd drink this chick's bath water.

I'm going to let the video speak for itself.

Christina has the ability, she just needs that "umph," I think it may be coming though.

Everyone is feeling Drake and the "So Far Gone," mixtape but, alot of people don't know Drake has been around for a minute. Drake got his start in the game when he co-starred on the Noggin show, Degrassi. I wasn't a fan of the show but, The Intellect who's a geek at heart speaks highly of the show and even stated Drake use to rap on the show under his character Jimmy. If you did/didn't watch Degrassi, we're all familiar with Drake now. From his various mixtapes to features on songs with hip hop heavyweights like Weezy. With that said, I present Drake's 2007 video for "Replacement Girl," which features a cool Drake and crooning Trey Songz.

If you know music you remember Pressha and his first single "Splackavelli," I remember going to a concert in like the 6th grade where Pressha performed. Damn, that was when music had some substance. Granted the videos were corny, we actually had to get into the lyrics and the artist. Damn, I miss those days! Real music, step to the forefront.

He ain't your boyfriend, he ain't your husband. Just somebody you can call when your body needs a fix, he'll put you in the mix!

What's my name? Say My Name, Splackavelli!!

Kelis - Milkshake
Kelis has been ahead of her time since she tipped onto the music scene. Start with the fact she was fucking with The Neptunes before they evolved into N.E.R.D! Get into the fact she was rocking skinny jeans in 2003 before anybody else even knew what a skinny jean was. To sum it up, she's a trendsetter, modern day might I add. I live!!

Since I posted on Raphael Saadiq on Tuesday I thought I'd play on the whole theme and make Throwback Thursday's video Lucy Pearl's "Dance Tonight". Lucy Pearl was an R&B group created by Saadiq and D'Angelo. The group consisted of Saadiq, ex En Vogue member Dawn Robinson and Ali Muhammad from A Tribe Called Quest. The group released one hit album self-titled Lucy Pearl which included hits like "Don't Mess with my Man" and "Dance Tonight". The group is still together but hasn't released any material since 2004. On a lighter note, enjoy "Dance Tonight".

The original sexy lady of R&B, Toni Braxton was always a favorite of my mother and father and as an old soul myself it passed down to me. The video below was always a favorite of mine and I still listen to all her old music to this day. Get in to the Toni's short cut and the painted men in the video.

And make sure you check out Toni on Dancing with the Stars.

I needed some Teedra in my life. Everything from her voice, to her look and extremely deep lyrics. I'm beyond excited for her new album, The Lioness. It's been a long time coming but, Ms. Teedra's ready. After the TVT drama, Teedra just needs the right label to achieve the stardom she deserves. As long as she doesn't experience Amerie/Michelle syndrome I'm good. With that said, Get into "Be Your Girl" off of her debut album, Complex Simplicity. Shout out "Complex Simplicity" tatted on the back. Oxymoron right Intellect? yeah, I thought so. Feel Teedra, Get into her, Make her your muse, She's mine.

Anywho, get into the Throwback Thursday video Monica's "Just One Of Those Days ( Don't Take It Personal)" off Monica's debut album, Miss Thang. This takes me back to the early days of cassette tapes and pop-rock candy. MoMo is 'Standing Still' and I'm not mad at her.

Thursday Throwback

As I wrap up my first time posting the Throwback videos of the week, I had to close my "Gone But Not Forgotten" Bad Boy Records edition with one of my favorite rap tracks ever. Craig Mack's Flava In Ya Ear, was the first hit record on Bad Boy and was one of the first to have cross-over appeal, peaking on the Hot 100 at #9. Although I love the original track, the remix for this song is iconic; I mean Diddy did invent the remix. Featuring LL. Cool J, Rampage, B.I.G, and a solo Busta Rhymes, this video had it all for early 90s rap and the beat alone is classic. Also peep the infamous Diddy (Puff Daddy, back then) and the empty bottles Bad Booooyyy . Craig Mack's Flava In Ya Ear remix is today's throwback video. So let's take it back to 1994 and enjoy!!!

This was the week of Ms. Jackson. Tuesday we gave you 'I Get So Lonely' and I present 'Anytime, Anyplace' this time around. This was another video to add to the sexy list for Janet. The sexiness conveyed in the lyrics and shots in the video were intense. I love the interaction between Janet and Flex Alexander (ie: singer Shanice's husband). This video a la 1993 gave sexy tease for a time when you didn't really see overly sexy videos on MTV. Janet was a connoisseur I'd say myself.

Take A Sip.

This video is classic. TLC was one of the first girl groups to tip onto the scene and switch the game up. With the metallic colors and futuristic theme this video was a major hit for the group. Feast on T-Boz, Left Eye and my Boo Chili. Shoutout to James Wagner for suggesting this video.

We call this Throwback Thursday. It's the day when you can come view real hip hop at it's finest! With that said I present Jay-Z "Feelin It" off 96's Reasonable Doubt album. This was when Mr. Carter first came onto the scene. Think back to `96 and look at him now. Let's just give a round of applause for Mr. Carter for showing that a black man can start in the hood and end up in the Hamptons.

I'm feelin it fill the glass to the top with Moet
Feelin it feel the lex pushin up on the set
I'm feelin it feel the high that you get from the life
Feelin it if you feel it raise your l in the sky

It's that time again, get into this INFAMOUS throwback from Brooklyn bred Talib Kweli. The single "The Blast" featuring Hi-Tek is off Kweli's album "Train Of Thought". The media has quoted Kweli as being the best-known and critically, if not commercially, successful rapper in alternative hip hop. What I find so interesting about this Brooklyn MC is that his name means "student" or "seeker" and his middle which is Swahili means "true". I also love the fact Kwelis is a conscious rapper. He actually takes the time out to master his lyrics instead of feeding into what the media wants. It's no shade to artist like Weezy, Plies and Soulja Boy but, Kweli takes you back to Real Hip Hop. That is very innovative as my com padre Kim would say! Talib and long time Dj Hi-Tek are working on a second reflection Eternal album which will pick up where Train of Thought left off. I look forward to hearing the material on that masterpiece. With that said get into "The Blast" by Talib Kweli featuring Hi-Tek.
