For the Fashion Connoisseur

The Jonas Brothers are currently gracing the cover for the latest edition of Seventeen magazine, and in there interview eldest JoBro had this to say about their fashion:

"You will not find us in sweatpants. That's not who we are. And you have to stay true to who you are. I'm dressing kind of nicely all the time now. But then it's like, What am I going to do next?"

- Kevin Jonas tells the new issue of Sevnteen magazine

I can faintly hear someone saying I told you so...

For My THICK MADAME'S

For all my size 12 and up, we have a reason to rejoice. Tomorrow Forever 21 will launch their new plus size line Faith 21. From the Look Book I am a little lukewarm to the new designs, but Forever 21 usually as a wide selection of a variety of styles so I am still holding out. Unfortunately the closest store to carry the line will be Pentagon City mall in VA, but if you need to get your hands on some cute, cheap plus sized designs you already know all the clothes will be available on line. Peep some of the designs and let me know what you think.

Would you buy anything from the Faith 21 line? Are you even excited about the new line?

I Want You, I Need You

Now, tell me these Etro paisley, satin shoes aren't everything and I'll slap you. It's something about the intricate paisley print in correlation to the red detailing that drives me wild. The next question is what would I wear with these? I'd probably go with a cropped dress pant to show the ankle, a classic white button down (ralph lauren of course) & a simple fedora. That would give them man with a mission teas. I see it!

Call me FLASHY if you like.

**NEW MUSIC** Drake & Dj Rob Mixtape

The Drake movement is steady growing. There's no musically incline place you can go where they aren't talking about Drake right now. His lyrical content, his delivery and just his overall swag. As I think about Drake and his success right now, I can't help but compare him to the early days of Kanye West; It's something about the samples Drake's using along with his lyrical delivery that makes him reminiscent of early Yeezy. Well, the tracks I've pulled are a collaboration between Dj Rob & Drake and are featured on Dj Rob's latest mixtape. Get into the music and if you know someone who isn't on the Drake movement yet, let them hear these songs and they'll be a guaranteed member.

The album which is set to release on May 5, 2009 through Laface features appearances from Ludacris, Chris Brown, The Dream along with an array of other artist. The two lead singles "Never Ever" and "Love Sex Magic" have set the album apart from Ciara's earlier albums just for the growth in her vocals alone. Below, I've included some songs from the album which I like thus far. Get into them and make sure you pick up the album May 5th when it hits stores.

Looking Into My World

Occupying 935 Pacific street is the first completed building of helloliving, a chic and upscale urban community. The building has a modern zen look and feel with broad windows that provide a beautiful view of the city life.

I love the architecture of the building and the almost breath taking landscaping but, I don't know how I'd feel about everyone being able to see what I do everyday. How would you use the restroom, shower or enjoy an intimate time with your partner? I guess it'd just be you, your mate and the world!

One Leg Up On The Competition

Today the topic for discussion is Leggings. According to Wikipedia, Leggings in contemporary usage are tight, form-fitting trousers that extend from the waist to the ankles. Now how true or false that definition is, is un-important. I'm just taking on leggings in the current day. I've noticed the huge trend in leggings ranging from celebrities to even modern day fashionistas. It's something about the ability to wear them with an array of things that attracts buyers. I was cruising a FAB blog called Glam Canyon when I came across these cool pictures of women in leggings. I love how both women above are playing with the versatility of leggings. They're not doing too much but, just enough. A big thing when it comes to fashion is comfort. Alot of people tell me all the time "Fashion Connoisseur, I want to try this and that but, I'm scared it's going to be uncomfortable." Now comfort and leggings are interchangeable. Hello women, they come in everything from cotton to lycra, how much more comfortable could you get? Well, below I've posted some options of different leggings for you to consider incorporating into your wardrobe. Now, you can't say I've never done anything for you!

Line: Izreel F/W 2009 Pulled From Tokyo Fashion Week

You may have noticed I haven't been posting alot on men's fashion lately. The reasoning being for the lack of creativity in recent F/W lines. Well, when there is a will there is a way. I came across Tokyo based line, Izreel and was obligated to post on the collection. Labeled as 'Tokyo luxury street fashion' the collection is about adding European elements to what some would call an American vintage look. I love the sharp lines and innovative patterns that are intertwined in the collection. It's nothing like pieces they give you the blend of runway and ready to wear. With the success contributed to Izreel being featured in the past two seasons of Japanese Fashion Week they've become huge in the Japanese fashion market. If they keep their innovation up I could see them not only being big in the Japanese market but, in the American market as well.

The Road To The Dean's List

So you may have noticed I haven't been posting alot lately. Well it's that time of the year I like to call "CRUNCH TIME!" In the past week, I've completed a deliberative round-table on same sex marriage, turned in a paper on the structure of an organization I'm a member of and started a outline for a speech I'm giving Thursday on the effectiveness of man bags in comparison to book bags. As you can see this collegiate thing is no joke. But, what's the point of pleasure without pain? Everyday I make it my mission to understand I'm here at college laying the foundation for my future. Ballin Like Obama

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, millionaires from his best-selling books, made $2.7 million last year and paid just under one-third of their adjusted income in federal taxes. While the income, mostly his, was far more than the U.S. median household income of about $50,000, it was quite a decrease from the $4.2 million the Obamas made in 2007.

Both years, nearly all of the earnings came from Obama's best-selling books. "Dreams from My Father" and "The Audacity of Hope" - brought in about $2.5 million in royalties last year, according to copies of the returns released by the White House on Wednesday, the federal filing deadline.

Obama earned $139,204 as a Democratic senator from Illinois last year before leaving his seat after winning the November election. Michelle Obama received a salary of $62,709 from the University of Chicago Hospitals, where she was an executive.

The couple's total federal tax came to $855,323. That was 32 percent of their adjusted gross income of $2,656,902.

(AP) In these images released by the White House, the first two pages of President Barack Obama and...
Full Image
The Obamas overpaid by $26,014, and elected to apply that amount to their 2009 taxes.

The couple's federal tax deductions included about $50,000 in home mortgage interest.

They reported contributing $172,050 to charity last year, including $25,000 each to the CARE international relief agency and the United Negro College Fund. That $172,050 represented about 6.5 percent of the family's adjusted gross income. That percentage is roughly two to three times the national average for household donations to charity, according to the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.

The Obamas gave a total of $1,400 to five churches. In contrast to 2007, they gave nothing to the Trinity United Church of Christ. Barack Obama was a longtime member of the church, and gave it $26,270 in 2007, but resigned from it and cut ties with its pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, after Wright made incendiary comments that became a campaign issue.

The Obamas' total Illinois income tax was $78,765, their state return showed.

The Summer Short Re-Incarnated

I love these shorts by Thayer; they're the perfect short for casual Fridays at work. Pair them with a nice top and heel and you have a fashion-forward work look.
When I saw these shorts by Twenty8Twelve the first thing I thought about was the skort. You know the thing, the girls use to wear in middle school that was a skirt in the front but shorts in the back. Well baby this is the skort re-incarnated. This short is flirty, sexy and so modern. I love the bow-detailing along with flat paneling on the back of the short. The bow draws attention to the waist and put an emphasis on the cinch look. I call her "Skort 09."
The last short by Black Halo is very reminiscent of what's current in fashion. Pulling masculine aspects and tying them into what would usually be considered very feminine. I could see these paired with a bright cardigan and gladiator for a day of shopping with the girls.

Turning Nothing Into Something

How many people can just walk around calling Marc Jacobs their best friend? I'll answer that question myself, NOT MANY! I recently found this interesting article where it talks about Jones and Jacobs' relationship and how he helped her make it through her prison sentence. Kim stated that Jacobs' letters of encouragement were what kept her going. He'd write her once a week sending encouraging words of wisdom and to show gratitude for Jacobs' love, Kim then began drawing Marc Jacobs' designs onto Bratz dolls in a neighboring coloring book she had. Now, what do you think Marc did with those infamous bratz pages? He blew them up and framed them; they are now a focal point for design in Jacobs' home. Now, that's what you call a FRIEND!!

Starting with 1.)I love the frame, many people can't rock an oval shaped frame but, Pharrell did it & made it really chic. 2.) I love the simple black and white colour palette of the shirt. When I see black and white paired, I automatically think The Hamptons on a sunny, summer day. 3.) I love the cut off shorts, they're rugged and chic which also goes well with Pharrell's persona. 4.) Last, is the sneaker. I'm not a big sneaker wearer but, I love the white van-inspired shoe. It's cool, casual and allows you the possibility to wear with an array of outfits.

This outfit gets a 8.5/10 on The Fashion Connoisseur's scale.

Reality vs "Reality"

I, like most people, enjoy moments of trashy reality television. But I wouldn't be The Intellect if I didn't have random thoughts and opinions about these shows. With shows like Bad Girls Club, For The Love of Ray J, Rock of Love, Candy Girls, and so many others, I want to know can most people separate reality from "reality." As a female, I think these reality shows are dangerous, because they condone bad behaviour without real consequences, misogynistic male behaviour, and continue the trend of objectifying women. Sure, its easy to get lost watching marathons of Bad Girls Club or any reality dating show on VH1, but I wonder what effect are these shows having on women? Do my ladies realize that this is not the way to look for love or attention?

Case in point, "reality" dating shows on VH1. When you are forced to make a name for yourself by going on a show where no one really knows your "real" name until you get kicked off, then I think that is a problem. Yes, I know these people are all characters who have been type-cast to play a part on the show, but why call it reality television then? If you are going to cast a bunch of drunken sluts on television and let them fight and cuss each other out for a guy with as much fame and money as me, then why not name the show what it truly is: improv comedy for beginners.

Furthermore, who else finds the whole idea of giving a girl/guy you are interested in dating a nickname that says nothing about who they are as person degrading? Again trying to separate reality from "reality," I know that I would not enter into any relationship with a person named "Real, Entertainer, Tailor Made, etc" because it doesn't show me who you are as a real, genuine person.

The real reason behind this post is due to my actually watching my first (and last) episode of For The Love of Ray J. First, I thought the show would be typical VH1 reality show formula; where the guy would choose the girl, and come reunion time they would not be together. Yawn!! Been there done that, so I decided not to watch. But after seeing all the FB and Twitter status updates about this particular episode, I figured I'd watch. As usual there were some funny moments (Grandma not seeing that inappropriate tattoo was too funny), but when Ray J asked his mom about what she thought of the girls I saw the reality coming out in a "reality" show.

As any real mother would want the best for their children, Ray J's mom saw through each and everyone of these little girls and let her son know that she would pick none of them for her son. I personally agreed with mom. But I also wondered what she thought of her son being on this show, and if she knew of how her own little boy was helping in degrading himself and these women? In the end I couldn't stomach anymore to see who went home, and honestly I didn't really care who did. But what I really want to know YGT readers, can you separate reality from "reality"? Do you find this shows inappropriate and degrading, or do you take them only as brainless trashy television? Let me know what you thinking via comments.

**And yes I know I did not mention that tasteless chant about Danger for a reason**

Land Rover has added some minor upgrades to the new 2010 Range Rover. One of the most noticeable upgrades is the headlamps but there a lot more than that. Range Rover has added 1,420 new parts into the 2010 Rover. The interior has also been enhanced. The cabin has been refined to a much more delicate and soothing atmosphere. The interior gets nicer woods (six varieties to choose from), softer leathers, and a 12 inch LCD screen in the center console. Land Rover has claimed the 2010 Range Rover to be the quietest and most pleasurable Range Rover experience ever.

Weekend Lesson For the Kids

Below YGT readers I will introduce you to another person who has no idea of who they are. If you are into the blog scene, addicted to Twitter, or both like me, then you have probably seen "singer" (I use that term loosely) Cassie Ventura's new hair cut. I really don't wanna call it a hair cut, because all she did was shave off the side of her head. Now I don't know what she is trying to do by this, but I can suspect that my writing this post is somehow feeding into her plan. Anyway, I digress. Now for today's lesson:

1. Be original
Cassie's hair is neither cutting-edge nor new. If you remember, Kelis did this in 2006 with the release of her album Bossy. And it was Kelis, not Rhianna, who started the Asymmetrical bob cut.

2. If your gonna go drastic, make sure your image matches.
Perhaps I am too soon with this lesson, and Cassie is trying to come for Rihanna in the edgy rocker department. In either case, both women owe their "image" to Fefe Dobson and Kelis.

3. If you wanna get attention ladies, please stop shaving your head to achieve it.
First there was the infamous Brittany Spears breakdown, now we have Cassie trying to create buzz about herself in general. Ladies, if you are going through something don't take it out on your hair. And if you feel the need to express yourself this way, then make sure you can pull it off (refer to lesson #2).

Cassie's new look gives me nothing, and I really wish she would have shaved her whole head. If you look, she has the bone structure and face to pull the look off, but I guess Diddy wasn't going for that. All in all, when the reactions fade away (I give it about 1 more day) and when Cassie goes back to obscurity, then she will do exactly what Brit Brit did and throw some weave in that head and call it a day.

Short hair all day!!!

Cribs: YGT Edition

Candy Spelling put the mansion she shared with her late husband, famed TV producer Aaron Spelling, on the market for $150 million makes her the latest celebrity trying to find a buyer for their extravagant digs. The cozy childhood spread of "90210"'s Tori Spelling boasts, among countless other amenities, a bowling alley, beauty salon, China room, rooftop rose garden, and our personal favorite, a room devoted entirely to gift-wrapping.
To escape their adoring fans, Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas spent $7 million on what amounts to a Hollywood tree house. Itís so secluded it's been called the "most private property in Los Angeles." Surrounded by woods, the house has glass walls overlooking gardens, a state-of-the-art projection room, a gym, a den with a bar (that's non-alcoholic beverages, boys), four bedrooms, and one master suite. Wait a second. ONE master suite? So who gets that, the oldest? The youngest, who writes the songs? Do they all share it? Or maybe they don't need privacy when they have promise rings.
This past January, Britney left the Hollywood lifestyle behind and moved to the L.A. 'burbs with her sons. Her new Calabasas home, Chateau Suenos, features a glass mosaic pool, a state-of-the-art soundproof cinema, a climate-controlled Venetian plastered wine cellar, a custom bathroom suite with a dry sauna and steam shower, and a craft room (we all know how crafty Brit can be!). The best part? The elevator that takes her cars to underground storage. But Brit didn't shell out the $8.9 million asking price. Instead sheís renting until her yet-to-be-built home in the same neighborhood is ready.
It took more than seven years and $20 million to complete Will and Jada's California home with its private lake, full basketball court, and a pair of par threes out back. Will once joked that it took so long to build that his children would be old enough to buy their own homes by the time they moved in. But not so ó Willís kids are settled in and even attend school nearby at the New Village Leadership Academy, which the couple launched last year.
Until the Spelling listing, Mariah Carey's dream home was America's most expensive on the market at $125 million. Recently, she made an offer on the mansion located in the exclusive Los Angeles neighborhood Holmby Hills, and we wait with bated breath to see if owner Suzanne Saperstein, ex-wife of billionaire David Saperstein, accepts. The French Chateau-style mini-palace is 45,000 square feet and features Italian marble walls, French limestone floors, gold-embossed leather wall coverings, a ballroom, and separate staff quarters for ten. With any luck Mariah and hubby Nick Cannon will close on the property soon so they have a place to put the reported $200,000 worth of furniture they bought for the pink nursery they're planning for their yet-to-be-conceived baby girl. No word yet on which room will house Carey's 1,000-plus pairs of shoes.

Fashion On The Streets Of Paris

I was cruising one of my favorite blogs The Sartorialist when I came across these amazing pictures. These pictures showcase amazing trends to be on the lookout for this spring.
I love this look; especially the way the skirt contrasts with the trench coat. She also hit the bulls eye with the bootie shoe, which allows her height but, also the ability to show her wonderful legs.
Nothing screams Spring like colors. Alot of people forget that in order for colors to work they must mesh somehow. Be it, the shade of the colors or even the season they correspond with. For example, you'd never want to pair a spring pink with a fall orange pant. That clashes. I also love how the young lady above paired the geek frame with the lady-like skirt and top.

Cassie's Taking Baby Steps

Cassie's sophomore album "In Your Dreams" set for late 2009 release!

"In Your Dreams" is the tentative title for the sophmore album by R&B artist Cassie. It is expected to be released sometime in the third or fourth quarter of 2009 after Cassie took a small hiatus to develop her vocals and a more mature sound.

Cassie has said that her new album will demonstrate more "independence"; there will be a "difference in vocals, a little bit more personality. And it’s definitely a sensual album." She said that she was able "to work with different people and learn what their habits were and what works well with me."

At Chalice Studios she recorded two new songs Electro Love and Pretty Face during recording sessions for the album. So far she has worked with Pharell Williams, Akon and Diddy on the new album although it is expected that other collaborators/producers will be announced in due course.

The first single from the album, "Official Girl", had a video and digital release with rapper, Lil Wayne on August 5, 2008 and was released to radio on September 16, 2008.

Cassie recently announced through her Twitter page that she had been working on her second (lead) single titled "Must Be Love" (feauturing Diddy) which is due to be sent to radio in April 2009.

Mi Casa, Es Su Casa

With a view over national parkland and across the ocean to the horizon, this house is designed for easy living and to please the senses. Yet it is also practical built with solid, durable, tactile materials. Bluestone, Anthra-Zinc, glass and wood are combined externally and internally in an environmentally responsive manner.

External walls and screens open and close, providing the rooms with privacy or shading. The narrow width and orientation of the building maximises cross ventilation and sunlight filtration throughout each space.

The building as a whole is designed to create private living spaces away from the street with a central focus on the outdoor living areas. It takes the form of a series of platforms, responding to the rhythm and topography of the site. The main living, sleeping and entertaining areas are contained in the long linear form to the west. An elongated pool bounds this form and transects the building through the entrance hall, forming a shallow pool in the entrance courtyard. The east wing encloses a living space that serves the barbecue and pool deck, with a separate bedroom and bathroom above.

HIP-HOP, IT AIN'T DEAD YET!

If you haven't noticed lately I haven't been posting as much. Sorry for this, but it seems the library has been holding me hostage; that plus having two majors, a job and active social calender as prevented me from giving you YGT followers a tase of the intellect. Anyway, I digress. This post is about what gives me sanity through all the many things I have to do in a day, week, or sometimes afternoon. Music is my sanity, real hip-hop to be exact.

For awhile I, like most people, thought hip-hop was dead and most good music came from so-called white genres(currently working on a post about "supposed" white/black music). But lately I have discovered that hip-hop has not died, it has just gone underground. I have discovered three amazing acts in the past couple of weeks, and I thought it should only be fair to share them with the YGT readers. Here they are enjoy!!

1. The Foreign Exchange: I have to thank YGT reader Braxton for this duo. Based out of Raleigh, NC and the Netherlands this duo consist of Little Brother member Phonte and Dutch producer Nicolay. What I love about them is Phonte's smooth melodic flow over Nicolay's even smoother beats. Check out their song Leave It All Behind off their new album.

Leave It All Behind - The Foreign Exchange

2. Yazarah: Another heavy hitter that is on constant rotation in my Ipod. I discovered after listen to The Foreign Exchange and was amazed to see her background. Anybody who can go toe to toe with Ms. E. Badu is worthy,in my book, for a listen.

YAHZARAH is MS PURPLE SAINT JAMES

3. Darien Brockington: If you love Raheem Devaugh, Dwele, D'Angelo, then you will love this North Carolina native. Enough said, just listen.

Beautiful - Darien Brockington

4. Wale: Last, but certainly not leat, Wale is offically putting D.C hip-hop on the map. Although Wale has been out for awhile, I am still putting him in the underground category until his first major label debut drops this year. His new song with Lady Gaga proves that Wale is one to watch for in 2009. Now I would normally give you his new stuff, but I'm gonna be different and give you some vintage tea on Wale.

Breakdown (prod. by HitterQuitter Boyz) - Wale

If you feeling these artist and you are in the North Caronlina area, they will all be in Carrboro, NC for show at the Cat's Cradle this month. Check the website for ticket info, you already know I will be in the builidng.

Now, you know I couldn't leave without giving my light assessment of The Carters' outfits. I must say I love Hov's simplistic look; you can never go wrong with a tee, jean, bomber and sneaker. I also love how Beyonce went for "City Chic," adorned in a burgundy, suede, bomber, button-up, skinny jean and heel. As, I say all the time "less is more" and these two reinforce that statement.

I Don't Know Who You Think I Am

Rihanna was giving me low-key chic while hanging out with friends in Hawaii recently, It's something about the subtle way she tips; she never gives you too much, but gives you enough to take note. That's the key components to be a tipper right? With that said, I wanted you to get into these Christian Louboutin Deva Suede Tie-Back Boots I posted on recently. Let me know how they make you feel below.

So, when I saw the new pictures of Marc and Jennifer I was instantly drawn to this picture of Jay-Z and Beyonce. I don't know what it is but, it's something about the love conveyed between both couples that make these pictures amazing. I'm all about "Real Love" in 2009.

Back On The Scene

There hasn't been much press about Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez lately. I guess the media decided to leave her alone so that she could focus on her family and making her new marriage work. Well, recently Marc and Jennifer were caught out on the town giving me what I want. It was something about these pictures that gave me "Old Italy," maybe it's J.Lo OVAH MOM carta and Marc's ascot/scarf, plaid blazer combo. Either way I say WERK OUT Jennifer and Marc; let America know you can TIP like Tom and Katie, Victoria and David.

Day 26 "Imma Put It On Her" Official Video

I know everyone tuned in for that overly dramatic episode of Making The Band 4 last night right? If you did or didn't, you missed nothing really. It was the usual drama of Bad Boy's artist. A part of me wants to think Q isn't crazy but, with all of his antics and quick to go off venting sessions, I'm starting to not be too sure of his sanity. As soon as I was about to say Day 26 who, I was pulled in by their new single/video. The song is titled "Imma Put It On Her," and features Diddy and fellow Bad Boy artist, Yung Joc. The video showcases a beachy, Day 26 soaking up the sun in Miami. The song is the first single off Day 26's new album "Forever In A Day," which hits stores April 14th.

With Project Runway moving to Lifetime, Bravo's decided to keep fashion at the forefront with their new show "Fashion Show." The shows host include grammy award winner, Kelly Rowland and world renowned designer, Isaac Mizrahi. On the show fifteen professional designers will compete in two fashion challenges with the winner of all the challenges earning $125,000 and the opportunity to have their designs sold in the retail market. So who's going to decide if the designs are couture or fashion faux pas? Along with hosting the show, Rowland and Mizrahi will sit on the judging panel along with Fern Mallis, Senior Vice President of IMG Fashion. The show premieres on Bravo Thursday, May 7 at 10pm; I'm excited to see how this show holds up alongside what use to be Project Runway. Make sure you tune in to see if this will be Bravo's new hit or the push for you to head on over to Lifetime for Project Runway.

Dsquared Create Britney's Circus

The Caten brothers wanted to create a provocative, indecent show that was primal, animal-like even. They´ve taken their inspiration more from the circus world more than Britney herself. Lingerie, fun, provocativeness and looks as minimal as two pieces of tape covering the unmentionables. The dancers were unique icons dressed in leather, like characters from an erotic fantasy.

We Call This Office Chic

I talk alot of times about my men preparing for corporate America but, my women also need to learn the steps to TIP on Wall Street. The main thing to remember when dressing for work is that it's about class and sophistication above all. You never want to give/show too much to make someone question your work ethic or goals at the job. Rules to abide by so that you always convey the right meaning are; Making sure your dress is the right cut and length, not showing too much booty or breast(s), making sure your hair and make-up are minimal and having a positive attitude about your worth at the company. With that and all the other pointers we've created along this journey of YGT, I think you're ready women!

The Obamas Give The Queen An Ipod

BARACK and MICHELLE OBAMA presented Queen Elizabeth II with an iPod Wednesday along with a book of songs composed by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, signed by Rodgers in 1952. The AP reports that the iPod was filled with music to accompany the book, pictures of the Queen’s 2007 visit to the States, and photos from Barack Obama’s Jan. 20 inauguration.

And in return? The Queen and her husband, Prince Philip, gave the Obamas signed portraits of themselves.

Now, I understand the nice gesture of the Ipod but, the signed pictures of themselves? Come on! We've got to do better Queen. Above all, I'm excited how the Obama's are switching up the entire swag of the White House. They are so modernized and current. I think this is the first time we've been so engaged with our president and what he's doing/not doing. Werk Out Barack!

Throwback Thursday

Everyone is feeling Drake and the "So Far Gone," mixtape but, alot of people don't know Drake has been around for a minute. Drake got his start in the game when he co-starred on the Noggin show, Degrassi. I wasn't a fan of the show but, The Intellect who's a geek at heart speaks highly of the show and even stated Drake use to rap on the show under his character Jimmy. If you did/didn't watch Degrassi, we're all familiar with Drake now. From his various mixtapes to features on songs with hip hop heavyweights like Weezy. With that said, I present Drake's 2007 video for "Replacement Girl," which features a cool Drake and crooning Trey Songz.

MSTRKRFT ft. Lil Mo?

Im thrown for a loop. I love house music, and I love R&B, and while they compliment each other, Ive never actually seen them COMPLIMENT each other literally. Canadian electronia-duo MSTRKRFT has enlisted the help of odd and obscure artists (N.O.R.E., E-40, John Legend) to compliment their hard house sound with their recently released album entitled "Fist Of God."

Im only halfway through but I am loving what my ears are feasting upon. My album of the year so far! Innovation, something severely lacking in todays charts.

The Boyfriend Pant Is On The Rise

Katie has really rubbed off on Vicky B. Known for her usual elaborate heels and mini-skirts, Vicky B switched it up when she was caught on the streets in the Katie Holmes inspired "boyfriend pant." At first I wasn't sure how the boyfriend pant made me feel but, for some odd reason I'm getting life now off the cut and style. I don't know if it's because Vicky B tipped in them or because the androgynous look they give these usually very, feminine women. Either way I'm intrigued and await seeing how they evolve in the world of fashion. I pose a question for the female, fashion connoisseur(s):

I'm Speaking My Future Into Existence

I've been watching HGTV alot, as House Hunters and Property Virgins serve as my two favorite shows. Since I've been watching HGTV, I've learned how to spot good properties, what to look out for and how to get the most for your money. While searching the current real estate market, I came across these FAB apartments set in the windy city of Chicago. Designed by Santiago Calatrava, these apartments are what I foresee in my near future. I could see it now; me heading the PR/Advertising Department for Harpo, coming home each day to my elaborate penthouse, not having a care in the world. You have to aim high and dream big right? Have i taught you nothing?

Coming To America

As I write this post my state of anticipation is growing increasingly. For almost a year and a half, I've been shopping on Topman.com and finally they're opening their first US store. Set at 478 Broadway in the SOHO District of New York, this store is what you call sweet tea on a hot day. The doors are set to open on April 2nd and will allow Americans to enjoy what the English have for years. If you're unfamiliar with Top Shop, I'll give you a rundown of what it compares to. Mix Forever 21, H&M, Express and J.Crew together and you have Topshop. Their pieces give me ready-to-wear with the price tag of a normal department store. If you get into the pictures below you'll see everything from outerwear to shoes, accessories to glasses. Topshop is a store to get familiar with. I'm in the works of calling my travel partner Lamont so that we can get the quickest fly to New York possible. You have to get it while the getting is good. Now, that's no SHADE!

Gucci recently unveiled their newest flagship store in London, marking the fifth Gucci flagship store in the world. The store's concept was created by Gucci's Creative Director, Frida Giannini and follows the archetype of New York's Fifth Avenue store. The 20,000 square feet, two story boutique includes open space, natural light and the normal facade of luxury. "I wanted to amplify the luxurious and intimate sensibility of the Gucci boutique environment to create an aesthetic that complements the history of the House, but at the same time ensures that it is thoroughly contemporary" explains Gianinni.
