Kelly Rowland And Columbia Records Part Ways

Official Statement:NEW YORK, March 31, 2009 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ ----The Grammy-winning R&B/pop superstar Kelly Rowland will no longer be recording with Columbia Records as a solo artist, it was officially announced today by the label.

Rowland, a founding member of Destiny's Child, the world's top-selling female group, will continue her relationship with Columbia Records in her ongoing role in the iconic ensemble.

"Because Columbia Records has been my home base as an artist for more than a decade, the decision to move out on my own required a lot of soul-searching," said Kelly Rowland. "As a solo artist, I felt the need to explore new directions, new challenges, and new freedoms outside my comfort zone and my friends and family at Columbia have been incredibly understanding about my evolution. I want to thank everyone at Columbia for the love and support they've shown and I will never forget how many good times we've had over the years."

Singer, songwriter, performer, recording artist and actress Kelly Rowland rose to fame as one of the original members of Destiny's Child, the #1 female pop group of all-time. In 2002, during a hiatus with the group, Kelly released "Simply Deep," her first solo album featuring the #1 international smash single, "Dilemma," a duet with the rapper Nelly which earned Kelly her first Grammy Award outside Destiny's Child. Drive Slow Homey

Everyone has probably heard about Andre 3000 getting arrested Saturday morning when he was caught driving 44 miles over the speed limit on a suburban highway in Atlanta. Police clocked 3000 who's real name is Andre Benjamin doing 109 mph in what was suppose to be a 65 mph zone. When asked why he was speeding; Andre merely said "he missed his exit and was running late for a birthday party." He was released on a $1,200 bond and is set to appear in court on April 29th. As the story unfolds, you know we'll keep you up to date here on YGT. I'm in love with the new collection from Chloe headed by Hannah McGibbon. With this collection McGibbon wanted to bring Chloe back to the era of the 70s and 80's when fashion was more commercial. I love how the pieces I selected are feminine and whimsical yet cut and tailored exquisitely. Another element that caught my attention was the bronze, beige and brown hues. They go great with the models skin tones and showcase the profound elements of the collection even more. If McGibbon continues on this path, I could see Chloe going nowhere but, up. I'm excited!!

The Force That Is College Hill: South Beach

So, as you all know College Hill South Beach premiered last night and it was for a lack of better words "coon funny." The first two episodes really laid the roots for what to expect with this cast. I'm seeing alot of sex, drama, arguments and even fun for this cast. Below, I've included my assessment of each character. Peep my commentary and feel free to leave feedback on your favorite/least favorite characters via the comments section.

Tiffany, Allison and Milan(if you look closely beside Tiffany you can see what probably use to be Terri).

Tiffany - I haven't gotten much from her yet. I think she's cute and has potential to be Brandon's cake partner on the show but, she didn't give me enough. And is it just me or did Tiffany and Terri(not pictured)look really similar on the show? Hell, I found myself trying to figure out who was who.

Allison - I really, really, really like Allison. She seems consistent and there to have a good time all the while meeting new people. I love the fact she's eclectic and into music. I'm not sure how much air time she'll get considering she doesn't seem to have alot of drama attached to her but, we shall see.

Milan - Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. She's the typical pretty girl who thinks she is all that from college. Now, don't get me wrong she sits slightly. But, not enough to be expect the world to kiss her ass. I look forward to seeing how she evolves as the show progresses. I have this weird feeling her and Brandon will end up hooking up despite the fact she has a boyfriend.

Terri (not pictured) - Crazy much? How do you move into the house and on the first night start developing feelings for your fellow cast mate? I understand you like him and all that jazz but, he's a man. He's there for two things; p**** and exposure. Excuse my language but, I had to get real. If he's laid up with you on the couch the first night, it must be something besides your personality that has him going crazy. She'll learn or leave. From the footage from the next episode it appears Terri doesn't like being there with Brandon if he's not into her. So, I'm assuming since she's not in the promo pictures that she must have went home or got kicked off somehow. Either way, we'll have to wait and see.

Paul, Brandon, Kyle and Chris

Paul - All i can say is Paul Wall re-incarnated. I haven't gotten anything from him except that he wants people to understand he's not white. I hope as the season unfolds he gives more.

Brandon - This dude is going to be a trip. You get to the house the first night, show the girls your body, they give you lite life and you feel like you're the king now. I'm confused because if he describes his life as always being this way why is he swooning over himself so much on the show? He'll definitely be a form of comic relief on the show just for the fact he's so into himself.

Kyle - He's dramatic, over the top and the funniest person on the show. He will be the most extreme form of comic relief. I've noticed the girls flock to him for advice already which will probably lead to him being the center of attention for drama. I look forward to seeing how his character evolves as the season progresses. Side note: Can someone get him some bump patrol for those in grown hairs under his chin? Thanks.

Chris - I like Chris! He's real and there just to have fun. I'd say he's the male component to Allison minus, the eclectic aspect. He appears to be the life of the party and someone who understands college is about work but, having some fun along the way. I feel as if Chris is the type of person who you'll always be friends with after meeting.

Well, that was my light assessment for what I expect with College Hill South Beach. I can't give too much because it's early on but, I await seeing what unfolds as this season progresses.

I know that’s what they want.” How does that differ for you when your audience is women and your audience is men?
Kim Kardashian: It doesn’t really; I’m a lot more shy than what people think, and when I was doing Dancing With the Stars, that really became apparent. Let's Tip In This Recession

Okay if you know me then you know I love to find a fashion bargain. There is nothing better than finding that perfect shoe, purse, or outfit on the clearance rack. Some may call this cheap, but I just call it having a fashion consciousness. Anyway, imagine my surprise when I learned that my favorite winner from Project Runway Mr. Christian Soriano will be designing a shoe collection from my favorite Spring/Summer shoe store.

For their Fall 09 collection, Payless has teamed up with the PR winner to offer the girls some new material to tip in at affordable prices. The shoes,which range in price from $25-$45, were first unveiled during NY Fashion Week this past February. Soriano who is known for is dramatic flare will not disappoint with this collection. From what I have seen I can already see myself this Fall tipping with some leggings and my leather coat with my CS for Payless shoes on. Only thing I am praying is that these shoes do not hurt my feet, because as you know cheap shoes can do that sometimes.

The Queen Bee Claims Her Throne

Ms. Wintour, we've got to do better. I know Beyonce was giving more shapely women hope with her American Vogue cover and I love her for that. But, the Vogue Italy, Marilyn Monroe inspired cover was better suited for a magazine designed for the fashion world. I know the humanitarian part of Beyonce is FAB but, it's something about Mrs. Carter draped in couture that sends me to another place. Either way, Beyonce inked those coins and has everyone talking about both covers. As, I've said a million times; If they aren't talking, then you're not doing your job!

Brunch With The Boys

Yesterday, some friends and I went to Mimi's Cafe for brunch, cocktails and casual conversation. I'd heard rave reviews but, had to go experience the force they call Mimi for myself. I chose the the Buttermilk Pancake Breakfast; it came with three pancakes, bacon and a side of potatoes. I know that sounds fatty but, I added a bowl of fresh strawberries and blueberries to balance the plate out. The food was prepared and brought out hot and fresh and was very filling and for a lack of better words TASTY! As an avid fan of great customer service, I'd recommend the food and service at Mimi's Cafe at Friendly Center. You got that fresh from the mouth of your FC. Mimi's Cafe gets the YGT stamp of approval.

Floral is the must-have print for the Spring and Summer months. It's bright, vibrant and goes with a variety of skin tones. The best advice I'd give you for pairing the print would be to keep shoes and accessories like jewelry to a minimum. Floral is already bold, so you want the other elements to accentuate but, not take away from the print. Besides that, have fun with the print. At the end of the day, fashion is about taking your own elements, tweaking them to fit you and having fun along the way.

Gammacurta took fashion, hard-hitters YSL and Chanel and made them not only ready to wear but, ready to eat. The LV logo comes in melon, YSL in caramel and Chanel in green apple. These lollipops are said to have only been for the photo-op but, wouldn't it be innovative if they were released for the fashion connoisseur(s) out there? Think on it and get back to me.

Time To Start Saving Those Coins

This just in!! Target has just announced that they have chosen Alexander McQueen to be the first designer for its new fashion series called Fashion Collaborations. Don't get this confused with the other popular Target Go International collections, this new Designer Collaborations initiative focuses on bringing creations from established designers to the mass market at Target prices.

"The Alexander McQueen for Target collection is said to resemble the aesthetic of his younger McQ line. Drawing inspiration from punk singer, Leila Moss, from The Duke Spirit, McQueen's collection will be adorned with edgy details such as studs and tattoo-print fabrics. Sweaters, skinny jeans, dresses, trench coats, swimwear, and blazers will be made in muted colors with bright accents. Squirming with excitement? The highly touted collection will debut in March." I am excited at what the collection is giving so far, but I am also not going to work myself up. I remember when the Go International Collection first started, and needless to say I was not all that impressed at first.

The Celebrity Craze With Twitter

The Intellect is the one to blame for my newest addiction, Twitter. When she first explained the concept of Twitter, I couldn't understand why anyone would want to sit around on a site where all you do is update what you are doing via status updates. After, being on Twitter for about 2 days, I started updating and now for some odd reason; I'm addicted. Hence, my twitter follower on the side of YGT. It's something about the efficiency of merely updating your statuses during what some would call the busy days and long nights of a college student. Well, I recently Google(d) Twitter and found this very interesting article written by Lane Brown for NY Mag about media-mogul, Diddy and his infatuation with Twitter.

Maybe! Earlier this week, Techcrunch's Brian Solis wondered if Facebook status updates and Twitter feeds haven't usurped some of the blogosphere's authority. As a happily employed blogger too lazy to Tweet more than once every three days, we laughed and laughed. But now we're starting to worry he might be right — when was the last time you read Kanye's blog? And are you following Diddy's Twitter?

If you were, you'd already know that in the past couple weeks Diddy has:

• Tweeted live during a tantric sex session (on the exact same day he reportedly hosted a Rihanna–Chris Brown reunion in his home).

• Taken a bubble bath while holding an Oscar.

• Enjoyed a ride in a stolen car with Jonah Hill and Hype Williams.

• Tweeted in memory of Notorious B.I.G. on the twelve-year anniversary of his murder.

• Joined Jay Electronica in a 48-hour spiritual fast during which he could drink only juice.

As longtime fans of the Internet are well aware, batshit-crazy rap-mogul lifecasting was formerly the exclusive domain of Kanye West, whose once-revolutionary blog has covered such varied and exciting topics as puppetry, tea sets, and the latest innovations in bathroom faucetry — but when was the last time it felt vital? Sure, Kanye blogged right through two arrests recently — but those were months apart and last year! And, seriously, how long has it been since he posted an all-caps rant about something completely trivial? We can't even remember!

Meanwhile Diddy — who evidently never sleeps — has been delivering every day without fail, often several times per hour. It's not like we'd ever unsubscribe from Kanye's RSS or anything, but we hope he knows he needs to step it up — the future of the blogosphere may depend on it.

I love the simplistic yet, bold attributes of these shoes. They give me Kanye On-The-Go Teas but, with the sophistication elements Louis Vuitton is known for. Werk LV & Yeezy!!

I've never been a fan of Burberry for the fact their pattern can be gaudy at times but, their new men's accessory line is giving me what I want. It's not Thursday, so I am not limited to picking a throw back classic, but I did want to share with everyone before I go on hiatus one of my new favorite songs/videos. At first I wasn't impressed with Ms Katy Perry, but has I heard more from her new album "Just One of the Boys" (which everyone should check out) I fell in love with her newest single. The haunting love song "Thinking of You" is powerful just listening to it, but once the video premiered and I saw that Katy was giving you vintage WWI tease I was hooked. The video is simple but cuts right to the point, and the clothing, shoes, and hair/make up give me everythign I need to give this video two cubes of sugar for my tea. Duke Ellington will be the first African American to grace U.S. currency. Beating out the designs of Frederick Douglas and Benjamin Banneker, Ellington's design will serve as the quarter design to represent Washington, D.C. Residents of D.C. were given the chance to vote on all three designs, and with 36 percent of the vote Ellington edged out Douglass' 33 percent. Congratulations to D.C. for stepping outside the box with the commemorative quarter designs and letting the people decide what they would like to see on there money. Even the greatest have to take a break from time to time right? With that said, I just wanted to let all the loyal YGT readers know that The Intellect and I won't be blogging from Friday until Tuesday. We're taking a brief hiatus from blogging to venture to The District Of Columbia to network, make some contacts and even lounge a bit. It is called Spring Break!! While we're not blogging understand we're working towards making YGT bigger & even better for you. Fashion Was Once In Your Face Now It's In Your Mouth

Following the idea created by London's Berkeley Hotel, the restaurant of famous Fifth Avenue store Bergdorf Goodman will offer Prêt-à-Portea on their afternoon tea menu.

It's a menu featuring a variety of petit fours and cookies based on some of this season's garments. Their luxury pastries include pastries in the shape of bags or shoes by Chanel, Marchesa, Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, Thakoon and Phillip Lim.

A touch of strawberry frosted sugar makes the soles of our Louboutin shoes really tasty. As BG's Linda Fargo said, you might not be able to buy the garments, but you can eat them in their restaurant between the 13th and 20th of February.

Now Karl know he need to quit. He's giving these girls alot with this Chanel tennis racket. It's one thing to be a stunt queen off the courts but, to bring it to the courts in addition is BOLD. I Hear Em Talk The Coldest Story Ever Told

I know Winter is almost over, hence the weather man calling for 76 degrees on Friday. But, I have to get over my over sized sweater infatuation before the season is fully gone. Alot of men are sleeping on the over sized look. Now, that we've got them in fitted jeans and form fitting shirts, telling them to wear an over sized sweater is sending them back to step 1 right? That's in correct! It all depends on the way you wear the over sized sweater. I suggest pairing the sweater with a khaki pant which is back better than ever this season or any color pant depending on the color of the sweater. I prefer sweaters with dress pants but, that's just me. You could always try something new with the jeans and sweater. The point of fashion is to try what works for you. It's always cool to try new things but, tweak them to fit the characteristics of you. Below, I've included some immaculate, over sized, sweaters that I would like you to consider. Karl Lagerfeld Does Barbie (No Punt Intended)

Colette´s collaborations and exhibitions in Paris never disappoint. On the 9th of March they´re inaugurating a unique exhibition commissioned by Karl Lagerfeld and starring Barbie.

In tribute to the famous American doll´s 50th birthday, Karl Lagerfeld did a photo-session with model Baptiste Giabiconi as Ken, and Barbie as herself.

As well as the photos, you can see some of the most famous Barbie models selected by Karl himself. The store fronts will have a Barbie theme until the 15th of March, when a big party is promised.

This Is Why He Was Living The Good Life

So, Kanye has tipped around the city with what I would call some of the Baddest Chicks in the game. Starting with the now current start of Harlem Heights, Brooke Crittendon then moving towards celebrity stylist, Alexis Phifer and now his lastest fling, model/ex stripper Amber Rose. As you can see from the pictures, Kanye sure knows how to pick them. They each have their own hustle, TIP without any remorse and hold their own alongside "The Fashion Connoisseur Of Hip Hop," Well I pose a question for you:

Beyonce "Video Phone" Demo Choreography

As everyone awaits the dates for Beyonce's US Tour, there have been various choreography videos popping up from Stans all over the states. I find it amazing how much dedication The Stans have for Bey to take the time out to record what some would call a light music video. Well, the latest brought to my attention by avid YGT reader, Justin is for "Video Phone." It was choreographed by J.R Taylor and Mike Franklin and shows a FAB group of dancers breaking it up in a local parking garage. I'm not sure how true of false it is that these may be potential moves for the tour but, either way The Stans went off. Get into the petite heels the guys are giving alongside their OVAH female counterparts, Whats Tea with that?

Either way, I'm not mad!

I found these suede Oxford shoes by Opening Ceremony and couldn't help but revert back to my childhood. When I was in elementary school, my mother bought me a black and brown pair exactly like the ones by Opening Ceremony above. Back at that time, I didn't realize how fashion-forward they were. Fashion was the farthest thing from my mind at that time; the only thing that interested me was having shoes that provided me the ability to run faster than my best friend Brandon. As, I look back now I've realized my mom was only giving me the material to TIP now.

And This Is Why I Fell Out Of Love With Rap Music

I was recently checking out one of my new favorite blogs Naked with Socks On, and I came across this video he was posting on. The video is by an up and coming rapper named Rondon and his song is called "Strangest Places." Not only is this song wrong in so many ways, the actual video is disgusting, misogynistic, and another way in which today's men in hip-hop feel the need to degrade women to make themselves look more masculine.

My New Pop Vice - "The Saturdays"

Fresh off the boat, newcomers "The Saturdays" are a British 5-girl pop group in the name of Girls Aloud, with the vocals turned up a notch. The skepticism surrounding these ladies is what has me so intrigued, what are the chances of comprising a band of 5 girls who are all equally beautiful and have the PIPES to actually sing a song? How long with it last? Its too good to be true. It seems like today you have either one or the other and not a decent mix of the two. None the less, check out the below clips and submerse yourself into GOOD pop music again. Anything to take my mind off that contrived Lady Gaga garbage thats on the radio at the moment...
