Mrs. Carter covers the April issue of Ebony magazine looking OVAH BOOTS. Inside the interview, Beyonce talks the typical; husband Jay-Z, what it feels like to be a wife and her now "past," plans to retire at the age of 21.
On staying out of Jay-z’s business dealings:

These pictures snatched from The Insider show a distraught Rihanna at a beach side villa in Punta Mita, Mexico. It's been said Rihanna is in Mexico to heal and get a break from all the publicity surrounding her domestic violence case but, from the way she appears in the photos, she must either be over the healing process or missing Chris. It seems like Black History Month flew by; Maybe February being the shortest month of all 12 contributes to it seeming as if it flew by. Nonetheless, in honor of Black History month and all our terrific ancestors I put this Dsquared ring up in honor of one of our most notable humanitarians, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I could see it now; MLK Jr. completing his community service all the while looking down at his I Have A Dream Ring; I love it. That's besides the point though, the point in this post isn't to make a fool out of the ring, it's to open your eyes. We have so many amenities and priviledges that our forefathers and ancestors weren't allowed today that we take for granted. On this one day, I just want you to take a minute out and realize how blesses and priviledged you are. Forget the recession, the economy and everything that may be going wrong. Think of the positives, the many people who fought for the small things you have today and the benefit of being a Black, African American Collegiate student; those alone should motivate you to get out there and do something. Without men and women like Martin, Rosa, W.E Dubois, Harriet, Malcolm and Thurgood; there would be no Barack, Michelle, Colin and Condoleezza. And imagine how the world would be then?

Let's never let the legacy die,
When we do that, we have NOTHING.

Ever since the 2008 Victoria Secret Fashion Show, I've been infatuated with huge scarfs. The Re-Birth Get's Pushed Back

Rumor has it, Lil Wayne's forthcoming rock-inspired album "REBIRTH" will not be released under Universal Music Group. The decision is withdrawn by the record label's executives because they fear that the album will fail and knock Wayne from being the top-selling singer.

According to This Is 50, people at the recording company have warned Wayne through his manager Cortez Bryant, saying that "if Wayne doesn't brighten up they have to turn into Mr. Evil Record Company and just tell him it's never going to be released." As of press time, no comment has been shared by the rapper's management team concerning the rumor.

Lil Wayne previously pushed back "REBIRTH" from April 7 to May 19 release. He will enter recording booth with alternative rock band Fall Out Boy and make a collaboration with the Patrick Stump-fronted band in the record.

"Prom Queen", the first single off the record has been released since late January. Using Auto-Tune on the hook, it rose to number 15 on Billboard Hot 100 and charted at number 16 on Billboard Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles despite its rock genre.

I'm Plastic, It's Fantastic!

I was cruising the blogging world when I came across this very interesting Barbie blog called "All Doll'd Up." Now, I've never been a big fan of Barbie but, I love the fact they blog in first person from the aspect of Barbie. I found an interesting post titled: 25 Random Facts Of Barbie. Let's Look To The Future

Here's the new iPhone Pro, something that we don't expect at MacWorld 2009 at all. However, we do expect something like this to come at a later date. Why? Because it just makes sense.

This concept started as a Photoshop idea by Giz reader Mat Brady. He wants to get rid of his Nokia N95 but can't get himself to buy an iPhone for the same reason other people don't like the current iPhone. Lack of a physical keyboard, lack of a good camera, and not enough storage.

I've got an iPhone 3G, and I love it. In fact, now that I'm in Spain and I can't use the 3G-because AT&T will nail me for the data roaming at a buck per megabyte-I miss a lot of things, from Maps to Facebook. But even while I can't live without it, I can see those shortcomings. In fact, I've bitched about the camera and the storage quite a few times. Mat made his concept and called it iPhone Elite: an iPhone with 60GB of storage, true 16:9 aspect ratio, slide-out keyboard, one megapixel front camera for iChat, and a high quality camera, with good lenses, optical zoom, and video capability.

That's good, but we thought it could be a bit better. We fixed the keyboard to make it more rational and compact, losing some unneeded keys. With the space, we added what it's really needed to make the iPhone a true Nintendo DS competitor: A direction pad and two buttons. For the D-Pad, we didn't want to reinvent the wheel and just copied Nintendo's tried-and-proved design.

Is this doable now? Technologically, it is. We've seen designs by HTC that get close to this, although they don't have the software and the final polish that this class of Apple product may have. Would it be more expensive too produce than the current iPhone 3G? Of course. Would we want to pay extra for it? Definitely yes.

The Schopfer Oculus is a 250-foot luxury yacht inspired by oceanic fish. The yacht is spacious enough for 12 people comfortably. The interior features 12-foot ceilings which is simply mesmerizing, a cylindrical double height dining room, central stair and elevator tube, and elegant ceiling and floor lighting extensions giving definition to the seating areas.

The second level is the dedicated Owner’s suite. Living areas and bedchambers are divided by a series of four freestanding tubes, which house bath and storage necessities.

With Summer right around the corner, I'm now on the look out for my perfect Summer Shades. I like a blunt cut shade, something vintage not retro, loud yet subtle and usually something everyone wouldn't have. As you can tell, I have my work cut out for me. Well I'll start with this new Marc Jacobs Lizard sunglasses. I like the combination of leather and wire, along with the sleek frame of these tortoise shades. These glasses are versatile and would allow you the window of opportunity to wear them with anything. Now, the one downfall may be the price. They're priced at $395, which is high but, a quote I'd say is semi-reasonable for a pair of Marc Jacobs. Happy 21st Birthday Brittney Ryan

Over the weekend, my best friend Brittney celebrated her 21st birthday. The event was an intimate dinner at Village Tavern consisting of good conversation, good people and the must have; good drinks. I didn't go all elaborate at Village Tavern, choosing a simple cheeseburger meal with fries. The burger was cooked perfectly, seasoned well and was worth the low price of $7.95. We ended the dinner with a round of drinks in celebration of Brittney turning 21; I don't know what they call the drink specifically but, it was nothing but a blue motorcycle in a pretty glass(refer to the picture above for the drink). Overall, the dinner was great. It's nothing like talking the past, present and magnificent plans for the future with good friends. On behalf of myself and YGT, I'd like to again wish my best friend since middle school, Brittney a Happy 21st birthday. I love you and I'm so proud of the woman you've grown into.

Was Kanye Out Of Line Or Not?

Kanye is such a stunt queen but, I love him for it. In a recent interview with Details magazine, Kanye spilled teas on upcoming plans to move to Paris to be mentored by designer, Marc Jacobs. Kanye then went on to explain the close relationship between him and Marc Jacobs due to the creation of his new shoe with Louis Vuitton. The interviewer from Details concluded that Kanye intentionally left a card with Marc Jacobs number on the table at the end of the interview as to establish the credibility of their relationship. I know I can go hard on Rihanna at times but, this is no way for anyone to spend their 21st birthday. Whereas, most people are usually preparing for a night out with their friends to celebrate being able to buy their first drink, Rihanna is probably in seculsion mad over the media frenzy that is surrounding her right now. At first, this was amusing but, like The Intellect brought up in her post today, alot of people are forgetting the topic at hand. Domestic Abuse is a crime, a crime in which one should be reprumended for. There was a press release from Ronald Fenty, Rihanna's dad on her birthday plans.

Fenty says he's not sure how his daughter – who has not been seen in public since the alleged attack hours before the Grammy Awards – plans to spend her special day. "There's no party that I know of," he says.

Even if there is no party or big celebration, Everyone here at YGT would like to wish Rihanna a Happy 21st Birthday and a quick recovery.

If you like blogs, then you have probably seen the just released photos of the injuries singer Rihanna sustained at the hands of boyfriend Chris Brown. We here at YGT have decided not to post the picture because since domestic violence is serious and very personal, we here did not want to add anymore stress to Rihanna or Chris Brown.

Domestic violence, whether it be physical or emotional, is a serious issue that affects all people no matter what race. Therefore, we at YGT want to educate our readers and let them know that while everyone is speculating on Chris Brown's career or where Rihanna is hiding or whether Jay-Z is gonna beat up Chris Brown, we want to send our thoughts and prayers with both of these two talented people. Ladies and gentleman, we have to stop putting our hands on each other to get our point across and learn how to effectively communicate with those we love.

The Real Tea: C.Breezy & Rihanna Scandal

According To Spin Magazine:

Brown's past comes back to haunt him in the aftermath of his alleged altercation with girlfriend Rihanna.

It's a sad, but well-documented truth that those who grow up surrounded by domestic violence will sometimes replicate the same destructive pattern later in life.

Many are saying that this is the case with 19-year-old singer Chris Brown, who was arrested this past weekend for alleged domestic violence and felony battery against his girlfriend, 20-year-old Barbados-born singer Rihanna. The incident led to the cancellation of both their Grammy performances Sunday.

Brown was raised surrounded by domestic violence; his stepfather allegedly abused his mother. Ironically, in 2006, Brown told MTV the abuse was "an influence in me about how to treat a woman." He also stated, "I used to always feel the hate for anybody that disrespected a lady."

Brown and Rihanna reportedly began fighting in Brown's rented Lamborghini when Brown received a text message from another woman after leaving Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party late Saturday [via New York Daily News].

Brown pulled over the car in L.A.'s Hancock Park neighborhood and an upset Rihanna is said to have tossed the keys out the window. A source "close to the investigation" who spoke with E! News said Brown responded by choking and threatening to kill the pop diva before she lost consciousness.

A neighbor, hearing a woman's screams, made a call to 911 and the police arrived to find an injured Rihanna left alone at the scene. They took photos to document the singer's injuries, which are described as "horrific" -- major contusions on both sides of the singer's face, a black eye, a split lip, bloody nose and bite marks on one of her arms and on several fingers [via TMZ.com].

She was then taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment and Brown later turned himself in to the LAPD and was charged with making a criminal threat. He was released on $50,000 bail.

Since the incident, sources have come forward alleging that this may not have been the first time Brown abused Rihanna. A source identified as a friend of Rihanna's described the pair's relationship as "volatile" to US Weekly and added that bruises were clearly visible on the singer's neck in early December. "I asked if everything was OK with her and Chris," the friend is quoted as saying. "She told me, 'We broke up again.'"

Life and Style magazine has reported that Brown's temper has manifested itself in violent ways in the past -- claiming that a fight between the singer and his mom that took place in a Miami hotel in 2007 saw Brown "screaming and throwing dishes," which prompted concerned hotel guests to call the police.

Brown's sister has spoken to Extra in his defense, describing him as "a good boy -- never violent," and adding that "He's doing good. He's coping." Rihanna's grandmother, meanwhile, told Barbados' leading newspaper, The Daily Nation, "I don't want people to worry. Rihanna is fine and she is doing well."

And while the two at the center of the storm struggle to come back from it, the incident has also sent shockwaves throughout the hip-hop community. A source told US Weekly that upon hearing the news, rapper Jay Z "hit the roof" and that Brown was now a "walking dead man" as a result. Self-proclaimed "big brother" to Rihanna, Kanye West, has openly talked about being "devastated" by the affair, and praised the singer's talent to Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show. "I feel like she is the most important artist in music and has the most potential. Her taste level and her age... she has the potential to be the greatest artist of all time."

Rihanna is said to be cooperating with investigators building a domestic violence case against Brown, according to a police source quoted by the Los Angeles Times. Currently Brown is scheduled to appear in court March 5 for arraignment on one felony count.

Los Angeles, California (AP)- Singer Chris Brown is not out of hot water yet, but has to be breathing
easier after the felony-level domestic violence case against him was rejected by the Los Angeles District Attorney, and Brown was given permission to leave the state.In an effort to get away from media attention, Brown took the opportunity immediately. He booked a private jet, and sources say he is headed back home to Virginia. Neither Jive Records or his management team have issued any statement or acknowledgement of the events that happened this weekend. Rihanna's camp and Def Jam Records have also been silent. LAPD is keeping tight wraps on the files of the case, with the chief detective reportedly keeping the file with him at all times to prevent the information from being leaked. Chris Brown and Rihanna's lawyers have both responded with "no comment".

Let's Set Sail And Never Look Back

The warm weather North Carolina is having right now is spoiling me. The breeze, the warm sun and the ability to wear just a short sleeve shirt will ruin anyone. With that said, I'm inspired by the nautical look which will be prevailing it's head again this spring and summer. Below, I've posted some pieces that give Nautical TEAS. Get into them; just imagine you in the outfit of your choice, mixed drink intact forgetting tomorrow's burdens and yesterday's hassle. I see it!
You can never go wrong with Seersucker; It's light, cool and gives the nautical look without being overbearing. I especially like the bow on the dress accented by the one-shoulder silhouette. I'd like the outfit better minus the white belt. I'd say add a brown belt along with a brown heel to make the dress pop more. That's just me though!
Next up is the Diane von Furstenberg Scarf Gown that is OVAH BOOTS. What catches me most about the dress would be the drastic color contrast and knotted rope detailing along the bust area. This dress is classy yet chic, revealing but, not in an overbearing way and allows you to feel fashion forward and comfortable. What else could you ask for?


The last three pieces are for the true leg connoisseur. What I like about jumpers(old school word) and dresses are the ability to play around with them. You can dress them up and down by distinct accessories or leave them fun and playful by adding a flip flop or simple flat. I also like how you could cinch the waist of any of these, add a heel and tie your hair back for a round of drinks with the local island boys.

Now, who's ready for Spring Break?

The Intellect and I were talking Grammy night when she informed me that Adele will be the first plus sized model to grace the cover of Vogue, in honor of that Vogue Editor herself, Anna Wintour decided to dress Adele for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards. Wintour dressed Adele in a custom made Barbara Tfank flared dress and satin green jacket with tuxedoed Hamish Bowles. I thought the dress was nice for Adele's shape and swag but, it did resemble something Anna would directly wear herself. How do you feel as a YGT reader about Adele's outfit?

New Cast For Dancing With The Stars Season 8

I've never been a big fan of Dancing with the Stars, my mom on the other hand LIVES FOR THE SHOW. I've seen where they recently released the list for the new season which will be season 8 of the mega show. Among the list, some names that stood out included actress Denise Richards, comedian David Alan Grier, head jack-ass himself, Steve O and rapper Lil Kim. Just from those names, I bet we can expect some crazy antics. Be it, dancing or from the backstage footage. I just hope they don't pair David Alan Grier and Kimmy; Now that would be a HOT MESS. The new season starts Monday, March 9th at 8pm. Make sure you tune in for the coonery.

Chris Brown Surrenders After Alleged Rihanna Assault

E Online - Grammy day was supposed to be a glittery affair for R&B's reigning It couple, Chris Brown and Rihanna. But things went horribly amiss.

About the time Brown was scheduled to be singing "Forever" onstage at Los Angeles' Staples Center, he was instead detained by police, being questioned for allegedly roughing up Rihanna.

Brown, 19, turned himself in at the Wilshire station around 6:30 p.m. and was booked on suspicion of felony domestic battery. Bail was set at $50,000 and he remains in custody.

Sources tell E! News that the alleged victim was Rihanna, 20, and that she suffered visible bruises on her face during an altercation that took place hours earlier. Both in turn balked on scheduled Grammy performances.

A spokeswoman for Brown's label declined comment. Rihanna's publicist, Amanda Silverman, would only tell E! News that the 20-year-old "Disturbia" singer was involved in an unspecified traffic mishap. "Rihanna is well," the rep said. "Thank you for concern and support."

Per department policy, police declined to identify the alleged victim in the incident, which occurred about 12:30 a.m. in the Hancock Park area, apparently as the two were heading home from Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy bash, where they had been all smiles.

So when I came across these new promo pics I was beyond excited. Amerie recently signed to Island Def Jam and there is talk that her entire project is suppose to be headed by LA Reid. If you didn't know, LA Reid helped start the careers of music hard hitters like TLC and Usher. Maybe with his help we can add Amerie to the roster of artist with hit albums. She has the talent, it just needs to be brought to the forefront.

They've provided the shoe connoisseur with a simple, yet chic shoe that could be worn anywhere or with anything. With the amazing color, I could see this paired with a gray straight leg jean for the last part of the winter season or with a fitted, khaki pant for the spring/summer months. I've been waiting FOREVER for this cd and FINALLY the wait is over. Ryan Leslie's debut, self titled album is releasing Feb 10th and already getting rave reviews. I had the opportunity to listen to the CD at my job and from track one, your pulled in to experience this vintage yet modern album that takes you through bouts of love, enticement and everything in between. I was a fan of Leslie with singles "Diamond Girl" and "Addition," but after hearing songs like "Valentine," "Gibberish" and "Quicksand" I'm now an even bigger fan. The man behind Next Selection production is showing you his skills on this album, writing/co-writing every song on his debut. The man once known for hits like Cassie's Me and You, is now leaving his mark on the game as a solo artist. Mark February 10th as the day to pick up Leslie's, self titled debut.

106 & Park's Free Gives You Words Of Wisdom

I've always been a fan of Free from 106 & Park. I was sad and hurt when she was fired from the show and even more upset when I saw her at various events looking a fool. I guess now she's back on the good foot. She's on Russell Simmon's new site globalgrind.com and is even starting up her own blog through the site. I found a very profound poem written by Free that I wanted to share with the YGT readers. It's inspiring and motivational; which is something we all need in our lives right now. It goes to show that when you have a negative you can always turn it into a positive.

The poem's entitled: This Year

THIS YEAR I will remember that I choose and that I am chosen so I am exactly where I want and need to be at all times. THIS YEAR anything worth measuring at all by me will be measured as half full. THIS YEAR the well being of my future will drive my every move. THIS YEAR I come first, not selfishly but because I must come first in order to survive so that I can to do the work I am here to do. Simon Cowell Saves Fantasia From Foreclosure

The singer, who was crowned the winner of Cowell’s American Idol show in 2004, purchased the six-bedroom house in Charlotte in March 2007 for $1.3 million.

But she ran into financial difficulty and failed to keep up with repayments on the property. The mansion was due to be auctioned off in January but the sale was called off at the last minute after Barrino reached a deal with financiers.

And, according to reports, it was Cowell who stepped in to provide a short-term solution to Barrino’s money problems. A close source explains, “Simon reached out to Fantasia to help take care of some of the back payments she owed so the house wouldn’t go on the block.”

Cowell’s offer undoubtedly helped the singer stave off creditors as the R&B singer would not have been able to make the payment with out his help. Said the insider, “Simon was hoping to keep his good deed a secret. He didn’t want to cause Fantasia any further public embarrassment.”

Hermes always takes it back to the basics but, by adding subtle elements like a hint of color, a new texture/pattern or a cut that's to die; they always end up at the top of any list for Fashion Must Haves. Veronique Nichanian must get the praise for taking this line to a new level. As I said before when you give me a line that's fluid, innovative and for a lack of better words "OVAH," you have ME!

It Started Off With A Kiss

I like the rugged yet, chic look of these Raf Simons sneakers. It's nothing like a bold, black shoe to get me started. I like black because you can do so much with it. For some reason, I'm seeing a dark denim jean, mustard-colored pea coat with sailor buttons and a teal paschmina to go with these babies. I'm not psychic, I forsee FASHION in my future.

You know I can't drink my tea without my morning mug; This morning's mug is the Sessilee Lopez edition. I've been posting alot on Ole Ses lately but, it's because she's working boots honey. Ms. Lopez recently added Latina Magazine to the resume where inside the pages she discusses everything from working with Tyra Banks to the rumors of a relationship with Kanye West. I'm A Gangsta [With A Lip Ring] No Shade.

Lil Wayne and reporter Katie Couric tackle Wayne's relationship with his father, his persona of being a gangsta rapper and his smoking habit. I went through bits and pieces of the 11 minute interview and it's very interesting, it gives you a great overview of who Lil Wayne really is minus the media hype. There's a very funny part at the beginning of the interview where Katie goes "Your Teeth pause...are very sparkly," and Wayne just smiles! Priceless.

Blazer On Deck

The Intellect and I were in the library being studious when we came across some nice vintage pieces from the archives of our school's every going fashion. Back when our school was called the Women's College, they use to award the ladies a blazer as a form of identification for being a "WC" student. Each year's blazer was different with variations in color, crest decoration, quality and cut. Looking at the blazer, I definitely think we should bring them back. I know it was a thing associated with The Women's College and we're now UNC-Greensboro but, just because we've progressed doesn't mean we have to let some good traditions go. I could see this blazer with a dark denim skinny jean, nude stiletto and a sickening Tory Burch satchel. Now we're getting somewhere. Let's just rid the bookstore of those dreaded hoodies and we can really make moves.

I'm Giving You A Break

You know I usually object to a women tippin in anything but a heel. But, when I came across this Juicy Couture shoe, I was actually excited to provide my tippers with a shoe for their day off. I know your shocked I'm doing this but, I have to understand everyone wear a flat from time to time. Hell, even Queen B tips in a Dior flat from time to time. What I like about this Juicy sneaker is plainly, the cuteness of the shoe. I like how you could wear it with a skinny jean and lax shirt or with a bermuda short and v-neck. The best thing about sneakers is the ability to play with them. I use to associate sneakers with being dressed down. But, I've noticed lately there are so many different shoes that allow for you to play the fence between dressy/casual. Might I also add this bad boy is only $75; now if that's not a steal I don't know what it is.

I love the tailoring of the suit but, it's the overlaying cardigan that really grabs my attention.
I love the print of the blazer in comparison to the scarf. I also love the hand tied bow-tie.
Farnsworth can never do wrong in my eyes. I think I'm drawn by the cut of the suit in correlation with the bold colors.
The man clutch is everything, add the green dress pant and v-neck/blazer combo and you have a FASHION HIT!
Mr. West has the pose, the swag and attire to make him the Fashion Trendsetter of the year. If he's starting of 2009 like this what can we expect towards the middle of 2009?

That Damn Groundhog

I'm not sure how accurate I am with this assessment but, a co-worker informed me that the groundhog saw his shadow which means winter isn't going away as quickly as some of us would have hoped. I'm a stickler for cold weather, so it's good news for me. But, since a majority of people prefer warmer weather, I thought I'd jump on some of the spring/summer trends to be on the look out for. My mission for you this spring is to try something new. Don't conform. Dress up just because it's Tuesday; people may look at you and say "Who is she suppose to be?" Smile, flip your hair and say A Bad Bitch! If you ain't making them talk then, your not doing your job. I've told you coloring inside the lines is lateboots. Believe me! Below, I've included some must haves for spring; Get into the Fit.
I've said this before, The jumper is back. Alot of people have slept on the jumper and said it's late but, in actuality it's right on time. The jumper is a classic piece that allows you to be fashion forward, cool(temperature wise) and comfortable. Jumpers use to be associated with being dressed down but, if you add a frame, stiletto heel and belt for the cinched look, you've got a outfit that not only is sexy but, chic.
Spring isn't complete without a splash of color. For awhile I was anti bright colors for the fact that when the sun hits them they can be too much. But when you pair a spring color like yellow or pink with a subtle shoe, you have a fashion hit.
Plaid has been a print always associated with warm weather. I love plaid; just in moderation. Too much of anything isn't good. With this dress from Theory you get the best of both worlds. You get plaid, a nice silhouette and the option of wearing it by itself for a day on the beach (now i know my black sisters don't do the beach come on now look at their hair but, YGT isn't bias) or with a cardigan for a more tailored look.
Now how can you do spring/summer without the crop pant? The crop pant allows you to show off those legs and that nasty red bottom. What I like about the crop pant is that you can wear it so many ways. Dressy, Sosphicated, Professional or Casual. Fuck the capri pant, it's all about the crop. Sorry for the slip; I'm passionate.
The one-shoulder is going to be big this spring; it allows you the ability to do SOOO much. You could wear this top with some jeans for a day out with the boo but, drop the jeans and add a sickening heel for a night out with the girls. Versatility is key when it comes to fashion.

No outfit can be complete without a heel to TIP. I know you say "But what about my feet Fashion Connoisseur?" I say Pay It! No one said beauty would be painless.

Denzel On Sex Scenes In Movies

The Training Day Oscar winner triumphed over legend Clint Eastwood to be named as the best actor in Hollywood.

Yet, critics of Denzel Washington claim the sex symbol rarely features in sex scenes and has even refused to do them in some movies.

In a recent interview the Oscar winner defended his decision saying, “I’m not into the explicitness of sex scenes if it doesn’t fit the movie. I’m not just going to do it because some producer thinks it will sell tickets”.

Another star who also avoided sex scenes prior to “Seven Pounds” was Will Smith who tied for third place on The Actors Poll. Several sources claim Smith’s reluctance to do sex scenes was based on his admiration of Denzel, who often avoided or petitioned the scenes to be cut.
