Some Weekend Coonery

Get into this dutty wine mishap. This video has been on you tube forever and some friends and I were looking at it reliving how funny it was the first time we saw it. So I thought let me entertain the You Got Tea readers. If you don't want to watch the whole video go to 1:00 to see the funny part.

Santogold performing "Creator"

Peep these videos of Santogold from FNMTV. What I like about the video is the fact she sounds exactly like her CD. With the likes of artist like T-Pain and Rihanna it's great to see someone who can go hard on the CD and performance wise. Keep up the good work Santo.

Lagerfeld Does BBC

I was on one of my favorite blogs by Megastar Pharrell when I came across this picture of Karl Lagerfeld from Harper’s Bazaar. In the spread Lagerfeld is wearing the BBC Space Down Jacket from the Winter 08 collection. That goes to show that Billionaire Boys Club is a line to watch out for. I'm not one for a t-shirt unless it's a simple v-neck but, I love the authenticity of the line. I remember when the whole skateboard trend was on the scene and everyone was wearing skinny jeans and vans. Then, as usual the trend came, people wore it then it was gone. But, to see Pharrell carry it on shows that for him it's not a trend but, yet a lifestyle. Kudos to Pharrell for sticking to his roots in what can be a wishy-washy industry.

Best Of Beyonce: You Tube Version

I go up for Beyonce just like the next person but she is so prevalent on the blogs that I only post when it's essential. I was browsing youtube which is one of the greatest sites ever when I came across the video of some of her best performances. There are millions of videos that consist of her performances but I particularly like this one. Take the time out to prop your feet up and get into her. She is one of the best performers and that's NO SHADE.

You Got Tea Says: Happy Bday Michael

The entire staff here at You Got Tea just wants to send a Happy 50th Birthday shout out to the iCON we know and love, Michael Jackson. No matter what he may go through from the outlandish makeovers to the children scandals, Michael is the best. He started what artist like Usher and Chris Brown are doing today. They may not ever cut him any slack but he sits when he wants to. Get into this vintage picture of Michael as a child. The brown, orange and coppers give me life.

Michael Jackson says he's "having a wonderful time, just relaxing" as he celebrates his 50th birthday Friday.

"I feel very wise and sage, but at the same time very young," he said in a phone interview with ABC's Good Morning America Friday.

"What's Mikey doing exactly for his birthday?"

"Just have a little cake with my children and we'll probably watch some cartoons," he revealed.

Pro OBAMA

Photo: REUTERS/Brian Snyder/Landov

Peep this picture of actress Jessica Alba and singer Fergie at the Democratic National Convention held last night, August 28th in Denver. Get into Jessica Alba with the floral print. She's giving me low-key, new mom. Now Fergie on the other end is giving me Omen update with the nasty frame. I think both ladies were dressed appropriately for the occasion. This is the first time I'll be voting hence, my age. But even looking back on the past elections this seems like the first time everyone has felt like they are involved. This is how it should always be. You want a candidate who works for more than one race, ethnic group or demographic. We need a president who can transcend barriers and that's what Obama is doing. I'm proud to even be experiencing this significant piece of history. This is something that we will be talking about to our kids. I can't wait until January when The Intellect and I are in DC for his inauguration. That is when it will be official. For everyone who hasn't registered to vote make sure you do so. That is the only way we can experience change.

This is a promo shot featuring Justin Timberlake and childhood friend Trace Ayala. The two collaborated on a new denim line called 'William Rast'. The line will contain men and women's denim designed by Johan and Marcella Lindeberg. I'm eager to see how this game plan pans out. Justin Timberlake is a big name but if customers don't like what your producing it'll ultimately be a flop. Ask Beyonce. Any who, make sure you pick up Timberlake's denim line when it hits select boutiques very soon.

A BAD BITCH Necessity: A Clutch Purse

This is a post dedicated to my trendsetting women of 2008. Now if your a BAD BITCH your already caught with a clutch in your hand every outing. But, this is to my not so fashion forward ladies. A Clutch is a great accessory/necessity for a night outing or even a dinner date with the girls. You are able to slide everything you need from keys to your id in a single object that is still trendy. I've heard females say before "Jaylen, can you put my keys in your pocket I don't want to carry my purse". Now STOP! just think if you had a nice clutch, one that matches your outfit preferably then it would be no problem. By no way is this post meant to bash the girls who just feel when they are in the club they need their hands free to twurk that dude they've been watching at school everyday. But, I'm just offering you methods of improvement. That's all it is. If I can't offer ideas to my up and coming trendsetters who can I? The clutch is an object that barely takes up any room and allows you to bring everything you need with you. So your never left wondering who had your keys or where you placed your Mac lip gloss. With that said below I've posted some pictures of some versatile clutches that should be added to your closet ASAP. Feast

What is the world coming to? Peep this video of some high school boys dancing in what appears to be a back lot. Now what makes this video coonery you ask? Now we all know guys like to play around in those high school days but, to post it on youtube. Ummm peep the video and let me know what you think.

The Knowles Women Go Up For Each Other

Raphael Saadiq "Love That Girl"

This is the exclusive video for Raphael Saadiq's new single is off his upcoming album 'The Way I See It'. The album hits shelves September 16th via Columbia Records. I'm anxious to hear Saadiq's new material. I adored him when he was a member of Tony Toni Tone and I can't wait to see how he's evolved artistically. He's been gone for a minute and the game needs him. Now we just need Andre 3000 to come out with another album and I'll be content.

These Boots Were Made For Walking

Every time I come across a nice pair of boots I can't help but share them with my fellow trendsetters. I'm in love with the distressed look of these boots. The distressed look which has been around for decades can be seen recently on runway shoes by top designers such D&G and Juicy Couture. I could see myself pairing any of these boots with a tuxedo top. I'd be giving them Tailored top half with a distressed bottom. I can dig it. Get into it!

A Fall Necessity: The Cardigan

I absoutley adore Cardigans. It's an article of clothing that can trenscend seasons, holidays and everyday wear. What I particulary like about the cardigan is that it can be dressed up or down. You can throw a t-shirt on with a cardigan for leisure or dress it up with a crisp button-up for casual/business. The cardigan is a modern day classic that will continue to evolve and be re created and re vamped. So with that said, invest in a good cardigan and figure out how to make it fit your persona.

Here are some examples of some cardigans I adore.

These two cardigans below could be worn casually. They are available via urbanoutfitters.com

Now these two on the contrary are for a more business casual look.

How To Enhance Your Swag

This is a post dedicated to my metro men on the move. These are just tips to keep your swag at an all time high. Swag according to the Urban dictionary is defined as:one's own unique style or personality that sets them apart from anyone else. Being that it's the year 2008 the year of the metro, we as men should always dress to impress from head to toe. That's another topic all in itself though, but my point for this edition of 'Enhance Your Swag' is to attack the topic of scent. Now I know that sounds funny but, a scent is an important thing. Ever since I was young my dad taught me that a man should have a distinct smell. Be it dial soap, deodorant or better yet a cologne. A scent distinguishes you among others and leaves an impression of you even when your gone. I'm a firm believer in investing in a good scent so that it becomes your scent and only yours. Now don't get me wrong there may be someone else who wears your cologne but, once people know it as your scent it won't matter who else wears it. A scent can be mild, sweet or strong. It all depends on the person wearing it and the characteristics behind that person. I'm more of a clean, fresh, sweet kind of cologne wearer. I don't like things that are too heavy because they tend to linger in your clothing which isn't too good. I'm giving you a task, go out to your local Neiman Marcus and talk to the man/woman running the cologne counter. Explain to them the characteristics of yourself and what you prefer and they should be able to asset you easily. Below are some scents I recommend. With that said, that's the first post of "How To Enhance Your Swag". Stay tuned for future post. I'll leave you with a quote from Diddy, a modern day trendsetter.
"You've got to get your smell right. Walk into an elevator with a beautiful woman in it. If you've got your scent going in the right direction she's gonna be thinking of you when you leave".

Kenneth Cole "Reaction". It has a very refreshing scent. It'd call it fresh and light! It's worn by my best friend Xavier if you'd like a live model.

An oldie but definitely a goody. This scent has been around for awhile but it's a classic scent. I absolutely love this scent. It has a powerful smell that lingers all day but in a great way. A scent that can be worn everyday without any problems.

This is the new scent from Diesel 'Fuel For Life'. I was introduced to this scent by the sales lady at Neiman Marcus. I wasn't sold on the scent at first but it has a very natural smell. I like how it doesn't linger on your or your clothes but others can always smell it. One thing I hate is when you can smell your cologne but other's can't.

I've now given you some examples of actual scent I wear. Take it upon yourself to find a scent that matches you and make it your own. That is Mission 1: How To Enhance Your Swag.

Disclaimer: This post isn't by any means a way of bashing anyone. This is just merely to suggest options for guys who may be foreign to fashion and it's contents. Look at what I post as an art and not a criticism. It's for you my friend, it's for your better being, believe me.

Morning Man Bag

I must say I adore the Louis Vuitton Damier Graphite Bag. Created by Marc Jacobs and men's designer director Paul Helbers, this bag is one of the first bag designed especially with men in mind. The Damier pattern which dates back 120 years and is the third incarnation of Louis Vuitton's most popular pattern. This pattern which gives me masculine with a modern twist could easily be carried to the office or on a night outing with friends. I love bags that are versatile and transcend from day to night. This wonderful bag can be purchased via louisvuitton.com or picked up in The Fashion Connoisseur's closet.

Diddy said it best: "I have a 'man bag'. I'm not gonna lie. Just make sure that if you carry one, it's very, very big, so it doesn't get mistaken for a pocketbook".

Catch Your Breath: Brit's Not Performing at '08 VMA's

It's just been stated via Brit's manager, Larry Rudolph that Britt will not be performing at the 2008 Video Music Awards. There were speculations after her horrible performance last year that she would come back and show out at this year's show. Well it's FALSE! Sources say Britt is currently in the studio working on her new album and is focused on making it into the old Brit we know and love. I must say I'm mad that Brit isn't performing because I was looking forward to her re emerging better than ever. But, her new album is a damn good reason not to perform. I just want her to come back with this solid album and show everyone why she use to be the #1 selling female artist. I think MTV tried to pull the wool of our eyes by having Brit appear in promo spots. But, it's all good because they have to do what will get viewers to tune in. I don't knock MTV and their hustle. With that said get into this old school performance of "Oops I Did It Again/Satisfaction" from the 2000 VMA's. Go off Brit!

I must first say Thank you to everyone who helped make my birthday great! There is nothing like spending the day of your birth with the people you love. On top of that when your friends happen to be FAB it's even better. Being that my birthday was the official first day of classes I was bittersweet. I wasn't ready to get back into the swing of school but, who ever is? Nonetheless, it was made great by my close friends and everyone who shouted a Happy Birthday to me on campus. My celebration began with a close knit dinner at Bravo! Italian cuisine. Nothing too extravagant. Just a good time with good friends. I was decked out in a black and white ensemble with a splash of red. I was going for the Oprah a la` legends ball look. It was hit if I must say myself. Any who, dinner consisted of current events, memories with yours truly and a game of the infamous ZIP-ZAP-ZOP. Come to one of our birthday socials and you'll get into the game also. After, the great food and conversation we all came back to javie & I's lake house for cake and cocktails. More cake than cocktails considering Tuesday was only our second day of class. I didn't want anyone to have an excuse for not making it to class. See I'm a great friend. All about Education. After the wonderful night I had, I must say my 20th birthday was a really, really GREAT day! The love expressed from my friends was indescribable. Last night the 2008 Democratic National Convention got under way. Both Sen.Edward Kennedy and (future first lady) Michelle Obama took to the stage. Closing the first night of the convention, Michelle introduced herself to the country and showed why she is known as the "rock" of the Obama family. Happy Birthday To ME!

Today is my 20th birthday. I know, I know I don't look a day over 17. Anyways, I'm so fortunate to see another year because there are many people who can't say the same. I'm so blessed and I really do mean that. I'm in college and actually doing something with my life, FLY as FUCK (excuse my language), driven, motivated, have positive people behind me backing me and the list goes on. I think in order to know where your going you must take a step back and admire what you already have. That's so true. But, with this milestone of 20 years on this earth I'm excited to see what else is planned for me. I think if I'm this FAB at 20 imagine 20 more years when I'm 40. Like HOV said; 40's the new 30!! HAHA anyways, I just had to take a minute out to wish myself a Happy Birthday and share with the You Got Viewers how I feel on my J.Day. Feel free to leave birthday love in the comments section or email me for contact info for gifts lol. I have a gift registry at Neiman Marcus for my close friends who may not have known. With that said I'm off to my first day of class and to enjoy the Happy Birthdays I'll get all day. Stay tuned for pics for my J.day Celebration.

7 years ago we lost an Angel: Aaliyah

This is the day we pay homage to the late Aaliyah. I remember the first time I saw Aaliyah perform. She performed "One In A Million" on Nickelodeon's All That. Decked in baggy jeans, a fitted top and her signature swoop she was a new movement on the scene. Born January 16, 1979 and taken away from us August 25, 2001. When we lost Aaliyah we lost an artist on the brink of new things. She was a force to be reckoned with and the game truly knew it. Looking at artist today such as Ciara and Rihanna I see attributes of Aaliyah. If she was still here I could only imagine the music she'd have on the radio. She left at a time when her album 'Aaliyah' was getting the respect it had so long deserved. Aaliyah was the first chick to step on the scene giving you boy vibe with a feminine twist and it was fresh. On that dreaded day in 2001 when we lost Aaliyah heaven gained another angel back in it's rightful place. On this day let's pay love and respect to Aaliyah by playing some of her greatest videos. We love and miss you Aaliyah. If my calculations are right, forgive me if not I'm horrible in math Aaliyah would have been 29 years of age and still sitting.

VMA Line Up: Thus Far

I'm excited about the MTV Video Music Awards which are set to premiere on September 7th, 2008 Live From Hollywood. I'm an avid fan of the VMA's because of the quality put forth for the show. Everything from performance wise (minus Britney Spears last year) to the Free For All Fashion that graces the red carpet. I must admit I would have loved for them to take it back to New York after the whole Vegas theme last year. It seems like when the VMA's are in N.Y. the night is just better. Nonetheless, I know MTV is going to show out in N.Y., Hollywood or Vegas. With that said, this year's performers so far include: Lil Wayne, Jonas Brothers, Kid Rock, T.I., Paramore, Pink and Rihanna have been stated to perform thus far. I heard talk about another B.Spears performance to make up for last years but, no statement has been released of how true that is. Tell me Brit and Bey are performing and I'm game. As more performers are announced we'll keep you up to date. But, Make sure you tune in on Sept 7th for the VMA's.

5 Aspects Of Usher

In celebration of Usher's success, a collection of respected journalists give their witty and thought-provoking insight on the R&B/pop veteran in a five-part video series (“Impact”, “Legacy”, “Sex Appeal”, “Live Performer”, “Favorite Usher Song”).

I respect Usher's hustle. He has been in the game a long time and has been able to always bring something fresh with each album release. Even with the lack luster sales of 'Here I Stand' Ush still put forth a high quality album. But, considering we live in a era where people aren't really buying albums it's hard to generate solid sales. I feel as if when Usher's album dropped we had overkill a bit. He had been doing wedding press, baby press, mom-ager press and we were just overwhelmed with him. But, with the reunion of him and his mother I sense another multi-platinum album in the works. Jonas Bros Forever....Literally!!!

As you now know, I am a Jonas Brothers fan. There is something about these guys that gives me that NSYNC/boy band vibe from when I was in middle school. I love their new cd which is currently #1 this week, and I have been secretly jamming to it these entire week (lol). Anyway this week at the Washington, D.C Madame Tussuad's, the Jonas Brothers were honored with their own wax figures. I personally think that Joe's (my favorite brother hehehe) wax figure makes him look more like Michael Jackson. Kevin's and Nick's figures do them some justice, but I would rather have the Madame Tussuad's from England tackle the brothers than the U.S version; since they tend to be more detailed and bear more of a resemblance to the people they immortalize. Although the figures don't give me much, I can say that even as wax figures the Jonas Brothers are still the best dressed. Get into the Jonas Brothers and their counterparts below, and decide for yourself whether they were done justice or not.

The picture would be complete if they had some guns to show how hood they are. Soulja Boy, we expect this out of you, your new to the game. But, Bow come on. We know your 21 and claiming to be a man NOW but, you don't have to take your shirt off to be a man. Last, but not least how can you be hood with a Louis vuitton belt on? That's what kills me about Black Hollywood. They can't wear something without it being label. Hence, everyone wearing Gucci. It's becoming so urban. Gucci, which began as a high end label is now becoming a urban phenomenon. I know Guccio Gucci, the creator is rolling around in his grave appalled by all this Connery. One example of Coonery I must confess to liking is Soulja Boy's new single "Gucci Bandanna". That damn Soulja Boy and his catchy songs, peep the link below to listen!! Let me know what you think in the comments section.

We Present The Newest Dad: Ricky Martin

According to the Associated Press Ricky Martin known for hits like "Livin La Vida Loca" and "She Bangs" is now a proud parent. A few weeks ago, Ricky welcomed twin boys into the world via a surrogate mother. There has been no official press release of the names of the twins or photos but, Ricky has been quoted as saying: He is elated to begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order to spend time with his children." I say go off trendy dad. Ricky's F-A-B and i bet his twin boys are going to be. I wish him and his twins the best transition into family life.

Making The Band 4 Review

Can I get an applause for last night's episode of Making The Band 4? I was more than impressed with last night's premier. What I like so much about this new season is that Danity Kane is finally getting the respect they deserve. I must admit I wasn't an avid fan of the girls at first but, now I am. I respect and admire their hard work. They went into the dance studio ready to work and it shows in their live performances. By the way, was anybody else shocked by Dawn's body? I knew the chick was bad but, DAMNNN. I got my life off those little shorts she had on. Q you better keep her bruh (sorry for the random thuggery right there). Any who, I first felt that the show was very dramatized but, it was needed. One thing I've noticed about MTV and their reality shows is they are going to throw on the drama want it or not. But, I appreciate it because it makes for a great show. I found it very amusing the big hype over Laurie Ann aka "BOOM KAT" coming back. After the big falling out Diddy and her experienced last semester I was sure she was done. But, the way she came back and made Day 26 appear as a real group was impressive. Now Donnie on the other hand I don't know what to say about him. He wasn't really featured on the show that much expect for when him and Aubrey were hugging. From the trailer I get the feeling they may rekindle for some last minute loving. It'll be staged of course because Aubrey could pull someone who goes way hardier. Nonetheless, I'm really impressed with the first episode of Making The Band 4 and from the preview of the season it seems to have a great plot. Let's just hope it keeps the momentum the first episode had. With that said get into this behind the scenes clip from last night's episode.

Is This The New Trend?

With movies like Juno and shows like The Secret Life of the American Teen and Baldwin Hills, it seems to me that Teenage Pregnancy is the new in thing to do. I know that sometimes things happen and young girls must bear the burden of their choices, but when we have television shows that, in my opinion, make it seem as if everyone is getting pregnant then I have a problem. My problem is not with the media for taking the time to address this situation, my issue is with a society that finds this to be okay.
Just recently I was having a conversation with one of my best friends and she lamented to me that; "If she received one more baby shower notice in her mini feed (facebook) she will lose her mind." I had to agree with her, why is it that so many young girls are not protecting themselves and having children at such a young age? Why does it seem that a young pregnant girl is normal in high school and now even middle school? Why are we not teaching these girls that if they want to have sex, then it is okay to carry condoms or demand that your partner use them? There are so many more questions when it comes to teens getting pregnant that just can't be answered, but if we can just get one person to realize their potential and think before they act then maybe we can curb this "trend"
But back to the media's part in the trend. I openly applaud the movie Juno for showing an alternative to dealing with teen pregnancy. I openly support open adoption for teens having kids, because I feel that to have a child at a young age is setting both the parent and the child up for failure. Honestly, how can you expect to inspire the life a child when you have never experienced the world yourself? However, I also feel that the media is very conservative when it comes to showing all the alternatives to life while pregnant. I am pro Choice, and I believe that all women have the right to choose what they want to do with their life and their unborn child. With that being said, when the media portrays teenage pregnancy as just another bump in the road (i.e The Secret Life of the American Teen) I feel that that is a danger to all young people watching these shows. Being pregnant is a very emotional time for any person, but couple that with teenage angst, absent father, and the judgment of family and friends there is no wonder that most teens are at higher risk for stress related problems in child birth. In my opinion of the realities of teenage pregnancy came from the Real World on MTV. Before the Real World became a caricature of what young adults are like (trust we are not all alcoholic, over-sexed, bigots), season 2 featured Tami Roman who dealt with having an abortion and letting the whole world know her decision. The range of emotions that she showed throughout her ordeal and they way in which her housemates expressed their opinions without judging Tami really showed how most people deal with pregnancy. I believe that the more reality that we show to teens about what pregnancy is about, and the more we educate them on contraception and birth control the more informed their decisions will be.

I just want to let it be known that this post in no way seeks to condemn any person who is a teen mother or father, this post, like this blog, is a place where I can share my thoughts and feelings on a particular topic. If you feel offended in any way, I sincerely apologize.

Congrats Are In Order

Today marks the 2,000th episode of BET's 106 & Park. The show, which launched in 2000, has seen its viewership grow and surpass the MTV's juggernaut TRL. To commemorate this special achievement 106 & Park will welcome guest Jennifer Hudson, T.I., LL Cool J and Keyshia Cole tonight at 6 pm (ET/PT).
Personally, I have never really been a fan of the show even during the AJ and Free days, but I can say that when the ORIGINAL hosts were on air I did appreciate 106 & Park a little bit more and I fell that AJ and Free were able to connect more with the artist and the audience. But with A & F gone, we have Terrance and Rosci. Now I don't get to much from Terrance and Rocsi, but I guess I can respect their hustle because I have noticed since their little separation (publicity stunt) they have kept the coonerary to a minimum. Anyway, be sure to tune and celebrate this special achievement for BET and 106 & Park, I will be tuning to see my girl J. Hud and then I will quickly flip it over to Teen Jeopardy.

She is the only female writer on You Got Tea.

CRS we need you NOW

I want CRS to hurry up and complete an album. CRS which stands for Child Rebel Soldiers is a hip hop groups consisting of Kanye, Pharrell and Lupe for the late bloomers. Their single 'Us Placers' which leaked to the net around last August was a hit with bloggers and downloaders. There has been talk about when the group will complete an album but, with the schedules of all 3 mega stars it's kind of complicated. A statement I read via billboard.com said: "Whoever is going to pay is going to pay a whole hell of a lot". That is referring to the cost to make the album. With the talent of those 3, money defintely will not be an object. I can't even begin to imagine the material produced from the album. Let's just get them in the studio ASAP and start working on the tour. Revamped: Glow In The Dark 2 much? I can see it. Fifth row, The Intellect. Yeah I think so!! Well 'Us Placers' is the only song recorded by the trio right now, so feast until the new material rolls out.

I adore trendy children. get into the video!!

Wendy Williams Picked Up For Full Season

Hip! Hip! Hooray! After a six week preview of The Wendy Williams show and the great rating she received, FOX has picked up the day time talk show for a full season.

Wendy told MediaTakeOut.com:
Today, right now it feels as good as I've felt in a long time. I've been on my grind for 22 years hustling hard ... and I'm really excited to show all of America what makes the show so special.

But I'm just going to keep on grinding. I still have my [top rated] radio show, my movie that will be released very soon, and a new novel coming out. Oh, and I also have to take care of the two Kev's - my husband and son.

And before I forget ... HOW YOU DOIN'

I can only imagine how much coonery will be on this show. Nonetheless, I'm more than excited to watch!! Hopefully, she will be the Jerry Springer version of The Tyra Banks Show. Now I'd hate lil' Miss Wendy to come along and steal Ty Ty Baby's ratings. But, who am i kidding? Tyra should have her own fan base by now. Hmm I guess we will all have to wait and see.

Get into this video of my girl Michelle Williams on the couch with Wendy

Anna Faris Is Cunt Boots

Get into the trailer for House Bunny, the new comedy featuring Scary Movies' Anna Faris. I love the scene where she is tippin like Marilyn Monroe. From watching the trailer this movie seems to be a fresh, young comedy which I like. I've enjoyed Faris' past work in Scary Movie even though they tend to become tedious. But, nonetheless I look forward to seeing 'House Bunny' when it hits theatres on Friday, August 22nd.

Throwback Tuesday

I love the time I can allow our viewers to take a step back into the era of Real Music. Now don't get me wrong I love progression but, it dates back to the old saying 'You can't know where your going, until you know where you've been'. That's so true especially with music. Elements from old music is recycled into our modern day music everyday through artist such as Kanye, Janelle Monae, Jay-Z and Estelle. Now don't get me wrong coonery is still prevalent. Soulja Boy much? Imagine 25 years from now when our kids are asking us "How do you crank that soulja boy" or "What's a donk"? With that said peep the Throwback Tuesday video which is REAL HIP HOP.

Fall Necessity: Leather Jacket

This post is dedicated to my main lady, The Intellect. She rocks leather and does it well. Now, I'm usually against wearing dead animals but, after seeing some great leather coats I'm thinking of adding one or two to my wardrobe. Now this is the gagger. I'm by no means into urban wear but, was taken aback when I came across these sick Live Mechanics leather coats. I like how L.M is allowing the urban crowd a hot leather necessity. It goes to show that maybe urban lines are realizing that you can be trendy and still have thug appeal whatever that may be. I also like how these coats come in colors urban guys aren't usually caught wearing. Whoever said diversity wasn't great is a fool. Anywho, peep these leather goods from Live Mechanics which are available via

Now you know the blue leather is calling my name.

Not much to say about this pictures and these shades except that they are F-A-B. Get into Pharrell rocking the retro Lanvin sunglasses. Supra Brings You The Vaider

I was going through a local, trendy magazine when I came across the new Vaider from Supra. I'm a huge sneaker fiend but, only for exclusive sneakers. When I came across this shoe the color off bat caught me. I love shoes that are different but, also allow you to tone them down if need be. Even though this shoe is so bright it could be toned down with a brown jean which I like. The Vaider resembles the Skytop but, with more metallic accents and a more retro feel. The shoe will be released this fall but, only with select dealers. Nonetheless, you can always admire them online. I know I'll have a pair very, very soon! Check for me.
Might I add they come in an array of colors

Some Random Pharrell

I'm an avid N.E.R.D fan so I was intrigued when I was browsing The Billionaire Boys Club Blog today and came across these two pictures.

These are the new I.C Felt Jeans in Turquoise. I've got some similar jeans in a shade of blue but, I find these refreshing. The color is hot and they are a jean that can be worn in the summer or fall which is rare. You could tone them down in the fall with a simple, brown sweater or jazz it up with a white v-neck in the summer. I get life

Secondly, here is a pic of N.E.R.D peforming in Vodafone, Brighton. What's so interesting is how Pharrell stated:"You shouldn’t be able to wear a sweater and a scarf to the beach in August"! Which is so true. But, nonetheless he's FLY!

The Progression Of Black Hollywood Through Gay Roles

I was browsing BET.com when I came across this interesting article on Gay Black Roles. BET did a great spread on Black Actors/Actresses who have been able to play homosexual roles without it hurting their career. Some of these talented people include:

Forest Whitaker who played homosexual in both 1994's "“Prêt-à-Porter” and 1993's "The Crying Game".

Will Smith in Six Degrees Of Separation where he played David Hampton, an openly gay con man.

Wesley Snipes, who played a drag queen in 1995's "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar"

Queen Latifah, who played Cleo the best, lesbian bank robber ever. This is one of my favorite roles of Queen Latifah.

Giancarlo Esposito, who played Loretta Devine's gay ex-husband in 'Waiting to Exhale'

The main reason I was so intrigued by this article is because it goes to show how talented our black actors and actresses are. The progression of Black Hollywood now allows blacks the freedom to take on roles of diversity without suffering backlash. That is great because it shows that barriers can be broken in many endeavors. Be it Fashion, Sports, Entertainment or Politics. With that said, Keep Up The Good Work All Our Black Hollywood!!

Sol-Angel Makes My Day

I woke up today with a smile on my face. I realized how great my life is! Not only because I could say I lived to see another day but, I sometimes have to remember to take a step back sometimes and count all my blessings. Any who, I must say I'm privileged enough to be the intern to Tap Money, the 'BEST' music executive of 102 Jamz. Well one of the many perks to being his intern is the advantage of hearing music before the entire public. I came in today to see the complete, non-leaked, authentic copy of Solange Presents: Sol-Angel And The Hadley Street Dreams. I looked over at Tap and was like "Yep, SOLO came in today". He was like "that's wassup, we've got her in rotation a bit now". I was taken aback because that shows how HOT Solo is. She is gaining a heavy momentum with the release of her new album. I've been listening to it since I got to the station today and I'm really impressed. The growth and maturity of her lyrics is prevalent. Her songs have a rich quality and authenticity that I really like. Considering I've only listened to it once thus far I must say my favorite songs right now are: Track 1.) God Given Name Track 2.) T.O.N.Y. 9.)Ode To Marvin 11.)Cosmic Journey Ft. Bilal and Last But Certainly not Least 12.)This Bird. Those are some tracks to look out for. Another thing I really like about this album is the craftsmanship put into the album artwork. Solange has a very interesting picture where she is standing in front of two, huge note cards. She is wearing a simple, white, baby doll dress with a black bow. Topped off with a cute black and neon yellow heel with her usual curly bush. But, what makes the picture so complex is what the cards state. One says "I will not get pregnant at 17" and the other "I will not have a famous family". I love how she mocked herself for things she has or has already done. I love her sister Mrs. Carter to death but, Solo is bringing realness and we're eating it up. It took her awhile to find her own niche but, better late than never. Lastly, what I like so much about Solange is her simplistic element of Thank You's for the album. Instead of opening herself up for scrutiny or giving the girls too much she merely stated: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU... THANK YOU!!!! Simple and direct. I like her approach. I can only say this one more time! Pick up Solange's new album Solange Presents: Sol-Angel and The Hadley Street Dreams on August 26th. Until then, Solange listening party You Got Tea style much?

Sunday Dinner at Stephanie's

***"Sunday Dinner at..." is a new post here at you got tea, where we will be visiting restaurants in and around the Greensboro Triad area to showcase the diversity around this city. So enjoy!!***

So it has been awhile since I have had some really good Soul food, and I was really in need of some this past weekend. So me and my friend went over to one of Greensboro's finest treasures: Stephanie's II. Located on Randleman RD, Stephanie's II gave me everything I wanted and more. From the at home feel of the restaurant to all the people not bothering to speak due to how good their food is, Stephanie's II also has great prices and portions, I got meat, two sides, bread and a drink all for under ten dollars and was so full I needed some more time to compose myself before I could go pay my bill. Stephanie's II is a great place for families and friends to get together and enjoy some good ole Soul food. So now that I am sufficiently stuffed, I just want to reiterate how great a place Stephanie's II is and if you are a visitor or a native to Greensboro then its definitely a place worth going.

Welcome Back Miss 32 Flavors

Now anybody who knows me can contest to the fact I'm a HUGE Diamond Fan. I've loved Diamond from the beginning of Crime Mob to even recently, with her mix tape release: "Bitch Muzik". It's a part of me that goes up for a ratchet girl. I can't help it my roots were breed in Charlotte, North Carolina. Any who, Diamond has inked a new, record deal with Warner Bros Records. With the addition of Diamond to the WB roster she is said to receive endorsements, TV and film opportunities and the release of her untitled, new album which is set to release in 2009. Diamond was quoted as saying: "I'm so excited about my new solo deal with Warner, it's been a long time coming,” Diamond told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “It’s important for me to give my fans the Diamond they already know, but to also give them something new from me.” I'm excited for this new venture Diamond is embarking on. I just hope she doesn't go to Warner Bros and get placed on the back burner like so many other artist. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed.

Couple On The Rise Much

I was crusing past one of my favorite blogs when I came across these interesting pictures of model Chanel Iman and producer/singer Ryan Leslie. The two were out to dinner Wednesday in Manhattan. I'm not sure how to feel about these two dating. Chanel Iman is a hot commidity and Ryan Leslie, one on the rise. I want to like these two, but something won't fully let me. I don't know if it's the fact Chanel is only 18 and Ryan her elder at 29 or the fact that I thought he was madly in love with Cassie. No matter the situation the two are rumored to be talking. I guess we will just have to assume the two aren't a couple until they start taking pics like photo sluts Rih Rih and C. Breezy. With that said, savor on these pictures!!

America's Next Best Dance Crew Finale

Tonight is the night fans of Randy Jackson's "America's Next Best Dance Crew" have been waiting for: The Finale! It's down to SoReal Cru and Super cr3w. I must say I don't really like either group but, out of the two I'd prefer SoReal Cru. I don't feel Super Cr3w can live up to last season's winner, JABAWACKEEZ! Every time the Jabawackeez hit the stage they showed out. From their outfits to their intricate movements. Out of the two final crews I must say SoReal Cru does at least impress at times. Nonetheless, I'm excited at the fact all the crews will be back on the stage tonight to show up and show out. I know Fanny Pack came back and showed the judges why they should have been in the finale. It's that time again, get into this INFAMOUS throwback from Brooklyn bred Talib Kweli. The single "The Blast" featuring Hi-Tek is off Kweli's album "Train Of Thought". The media has quoted Kweli as being the best-known and critically, if not commercially, successful rapper in alternative hip hop. What I find so interesting about this Brooklyn MC is that his name means "student" or "seeker" and his middle which is Swahili means "true". I also love the fact Kwelis is a conscious rapper. He actually takes the time out to master his lyrics instead of feeding into what the media wants. It's no shade to artist like Weezy, Plies and Soulja Boy but, Kweli takes you back to Real Hip Hop. That is very innovative as my com padre Kim would say! Talib and long time Dj Hi-Tek are working on a second reflection Eternal album which will pick up where Train of Thought left off. A Post For My Mom: SYTYCD Winner Joshua Allen

Now, I'm no avid viewer of So You Think You Can Dance but, The Intellect and my mom absolutely adore the show. It was brought to my attention that winner Joshua Allen and I resemble each other. Now, I don't think we even resemble each other but, my mom thinks other wise. I remember the night of the finale when my mom called me, screaming into my ear. "Jaylen, your twin won"! All I could do was laugh. Nonetheless, what I find so interesting about winner Joshua Allen is that before appearing on So You Think You Can Dance, Joshua Allen had no technical training. After Josh made it to Vegas he began taking classes in modern and ballet to prepare himself better for the show. I admire Josh's determination. Instead of just sticking to what he knew, he went above and beyond to provide himself with a better shot at the title of winner of the show. It's great that Joshua Allen won the crown because it shows other African American males that their dream is attainable. Josh has said he plans to save up his $250,000 prize and move out to L.A. to continue to pursue his dreams. He's stated he'd love the opportunity to work with Omarion, Chris Brown or Usher. Those are big dreams but, with the determination Josh has already shown I'm more than confident he can do it!

Media news isnt my thing, but a homegirl of mine is doing it way big and I just had to give her props. My girl Isis is cast as one of the ladies in the house for season 11 of Americas Next Top Model! Damn I hate that show! I dont even watch tv, but this season I will be tuning in. Look out for her shes destined to do big things!

Name: ISIS
Age: 22
Hometown: Prince George's County, Maryland (currently New York, New York)
Occupation: Program Assistant at a non profit organization.

And before you find out on some ratchet gossip column and run to tell all your friends, Isis, that lovely lady you see is a transgendered female...as in born a biological male. Looking better than some of these bust downs I see tipping across my campus grounds. Hate it or love it, it is what it is, and my girl is doing it up. WAY BIG. Being an art major and traveling up and down the east coast big cities I have come across so many different types and kinds of people with just as many personalities, its nothing to me. My eyes have been opened to whats out there, nothing is shocking to me anymore. I embrace everyone the same, its all good. Love is love. People are people and I support my girl doing what she has to do to make it in this world because we all have our own personal demons and struggles to fight each day. So god bless to her, and all of you need to tune in! I dunno when that shit starts, but ill be sure to ask around!

Throwback Tuesday

The Throwback Tuesday video is A Tribe Called Quest "Electric Relaxation". This song is a classic. The views of 90's New York reminds me of watching New York Undercover when I was younger. Ahh.. those were the days.

Also get into The Wayans Brothers opening which featured 'Electric Relaxation'. Can we get some good, black tv shows back on the air?

Madonna + Givenchy = Sticky And Sweet Tour

Madonna, known for her elaborate tour costuming calls Givenchy for her 'Sticky And Sweet' Tour which kicks off in Cardiff, Britain on August 23rd. In the past Madonna has worked with designers such as Jean-Paul Gaultier and my all time favorite Dolce & Gabbana. So, you can see Madonna is no newcomer to couture designs. The two outfits Givenchy has designed for Madge include a black satin coat dress which has been categorized as "Gangster Pimp" meets "Art Deco" and a Gypsy inspired cape, worn over a black dress adorned with colorful ribbons. The talk of the collabo between Givenchy and Madonna has been in works for a while. Last spring Madonna begin wearing various designs by Givenchy to gear up for the tour. There have been photos of the designs all over the net but, I'd rather wait until Madge actually wears the designs. With that said, I've posted some designs by Givenchy for you to get life off of. ENJOY!!

Get into those head pieces & bold patterns

After looking at the designs I decided I couldn't just leave without giving you an actual example of Madge! Get into this MTV performance of "Vogue".

I guess Mr. West is also in an Olympic mood. Peep his newest video for Champion off his Graduation album. Kanye has just rapped up his Glow in the Dark tour, which I was privilege to go see (5th row much?); and I was honestly not expecting another video from this multi platinum album. With that being said, I really like the video but it was obvious that due to Kanye's busy schedule he was not able to be in the video. Instead, we are treated to the puppet, or for you Crank Yankers fans, mini Kanye. I'm feeling the video and its Olympic vibe, but if your gonna have a Crank Yanker Kanye look-a-like then you need to have Special Ed in the video (Yaaaaay!!!!) What's your thoughts on Mr. West's new vid.

Re-Introduction To Ryan Leslie

I really adore Ryan Leslie. I was put onto him a while back when Cassie first came onto the scene. He wasn't really seen but, definitely heard. When he dropped his single "Diamond Girl" the buzz of Ryan began. He has produced an array of songs for artist such as Britney Spears, Usher, Danity Kane, Snoop Dogg and Cassie. He's the mastermind behind Cassie's first single "Me and You". There has been talks about Leslie's second single being "Addiction" featuring Cassie. I heard "Addiction" about 3 months ago and completely fell in love with the song. I love how fluid his vocals are on the track. I must also admit Cassie adds that sexy element to the single. The Intellect and I were talking the other day about how incredible a video for that song could be. Cassie sits and we all know that, so add Ryan's vocals and a banging video and I say "HIT"! His self titled album is set to hit stores on October 21st. I look forward to hearing what other material his album contains. Make sure you cope the album and support Ryan Leslie and Next Selection.

Peep the video below of Leslie and some die hard fans.

Fashion Spotlight: The Jonas Brothers

The Intellect who I must say is one of the most eclectic people I know put me onto the Jonas Brothers. I'm not really one for their music, because, I'm not into boy bands but, their clothes are everything! No matter where these 3 brothers from New Jeresy are seen they are dressed to the T. They have released two albums - It's About Time in 2006, and Jonas Brothers in 2007, and will release A Little Bit Longer in 2008. I like the Jonas Brothers because they let it be known that you can be a All American Boy Band but, with a fashion twist. I say keep up the good work Jonas Brothers. Below are some pics of the outfits I've went up for.

Death of a Soul Man

Legendary soul singer Issac Hayes died on Sunday afternoon. Hayes, 65, was found unconscious by relatives in his Tennessee home. Hayes was known for his song Shaft, which won him an Academy award and a Grammy in 1971. While he is best known for the Shaft theme song, I, like many young people, remember Hayes as the voice of Chef in the South Park cartoons.

This has been a sad weekend for the Black community, in losing two very important and influential stars in less than 48 hours. From everyone one at You Got Tea, we extend our deepest condolences to the Hayes family.

Say It Ain't So Fanny Pack

Better late than never, due to unforeseen circumstances; such as moving into my new apartment and intern work I'm late on this post. My favorite group of America's Next Best Dance Crew, Fanny Pack was sent home last week. At first, I didn't really like Fanny Pack. I'm anti-80's. But after looking at their performances I've realized they are America's Best Dance Crew! Below is a bio & group interview that did after being eliminated. I can't wait to see Fanny Pack blank at the finale yae.

From MTV.com:
The Los Angeles-based Fanny Pak formed gradually as a group of friends who took classes together and eventually started to perform for fun. Now, Matt, Glenda, Phillip, Tiffani, Barracuda, Beau and Megan all want the world to know that they're not afraid to "go there." Where? To the top of the heap on America's Best Dance Crew, of course! All while sporting their very own fanny packs...

Team leader and choreographer Matt Cady is the sun in The Fanny Pak solar system, having taught the class where most of the crew met. His crew mate Glenda Morales is a vegetable-loathing Harry Potter fan with an internal alarm clock that wakes her up promptly at 8 a.m. every morning. Less of a morning person and more of a chocoholic, Phillip Collins is relishing the opportunity to be named America's Best Dance Crew. Also hoping to capitalize on the coveted title is kooky aspiring dance therapist Tiffani Grant, who simply lives, eats and breathes dance.

Barracuda thinks her fashion sense captures her personality: loud, crazy, bright and not too serious. Meanwhile, Beau Fournier, Brittney Spears fanatic and raspberry iced tea enthusiast, hopes to inspire people to let their crazy selves come alive when he unleashes his fancy footwork. Rounding out the crew is Canadian Megan Lawson, who is an eBay addict that harbors a love of travel.

Overall, the eclectic crew has a zany style that they hope will put a smile on the faces of the America's Best Dance Crew judges -- and the voters. Though they have serious talent, The Fanny Pak aren't just here to win, they're here to entertain.

BLUEPRINT 3: COMING SOON

Get into this video from The Glow In The Dark Tour where Hov and Kanye give the audience a sample of some new material from the upcoming Blue Print 3. I can only imagine after hearing this song what Hov and Yeezy have up their sleeves. I just had an amazing idea. Think on this: So Jay-Z has a new album coming out, and so does Beyonce. Since the two are the baddest in the game in every element why not drop their album on the same day? 500,000-1 million sold a piece much? Then on top of that imagine if they did a tour together to promote both albums. I bet the tickets would start at $95 a piece off gate! Beyonce would need from 7-9pm and Hov would have from 9:30-11:30pm. The way these two would shut a venue down would be crazy. Then since the two are now married they'd have time to work on making babies and the marriage life. I guess we can all dream... RIGHT?

Goodbye To A Legend

Original King of Comedy, Bernie Mac-born Bernard Jeffrey McCollough-died early Saturday from complications from pneumonia. The comic, actor was 50. What is most surprising about Mac's shocking death is that early in the week it was reported by his publicist that he was in stable condition. As of right now there is no report as to how his condition worsened, but his publicist has denied that his death had anything to his battle with the lung disease sarcoidosis, which was in remission since 2005.

From everyone here at You Got Tea, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to Bernie Mac's entire family. I leave you with a clip from one of my favorite part in Kings of Comedy.

Shoe Box (male edition)

So as a female who hangs around bona fide shoe addicts (The Fashion Connoisseur), I have picked up a few things when it comes to the world of the sneaker. With that being said, let me introduce you to two sneakers that I love and find to be very innovative.

First, we have the ?uestlove Nike Air Max 90 custom sneaker

I love the color of the shoe and the graphic designs give the shoe a little edge to them, that I could definitely see one of my boys in. Also, as an avid fan of The Roots, just saying the words designed by ?uestlove makes me fall in love.

The next shoe is for all my Js and SB Dunk Lovers. Let me introduce the Jordunks!!

Designed by Illego, these custom made Nike Dunks feature a 2001 Air Jordan III tongue and Nike Air back pieces to give the show an authentic Jordan feel. "The toe and heel piece was constructed from charcoal denim and flocked with the elephant pattern to give a velvet finish to it"(sneakerobsession.com). I really like this shoe a lot for that guy/girl who loves their Jordan's but is starting to branch out into the custom made world of Nike Dunks.

What would a custom made Dunk be without a custom box to go with the shoe. The box is very unique because it uses special fabric "Illego used on the Criminal Minded Air Force Ones" and also features both the Illego logo and the infamous Jordan slam dunk logo.

All in all both sneakers are unique and I know many shoe addicts will want to get their hands on a pair of these exclusives. Unfortunately, I could not find the price of these shoes or even when they will be released. Well I guess I have given all the sneaker addicts a new task.
Happy Hunting!!

Get Into Team USA!!!

The time is upon us for the 2008 summer Olympics in Beijing, China. I, like billions (yes, billions), around the world will be tuned into the biggest fashion in the world; the Opening Ceremony. Only at the Olympic games can you see fashion houses like Dolce and Gabbana (Team Italy), Versace, and now Ralph Lauren for Team USA showcase great sportswear designs for their home country. Once I took a look at the Opening Ceremony uniform I was in love, but when I saw the crisp white of Team USA's village wear I Got My Life!! For the Opening, Team USA will enter the stadium in a tropical wool navy blazers emblazoned with oversized Polo ponies, off-white wool trousers, white cotton broadcloth shirts, white twill newsboy caps and striped silk neckwear — ties for the men, scarves for the women. And for their day to day wear around the Olympic village, Team USA will be wearing crisp all white shorts or pants with a choice of either a sweater vest or the classic Ralph Lauren polo with an Olympic twist. Not only is the uniform preppy chic and classic American summer, it also comes with its own instruction manual on how to properly assemble the desired look; sorry guys in the NBA no loose ties in this ceremony!!

Personally, I can see why the U.S chose Ralph Lauren to design the uniforms for the Olympic team. When you think of American summer time fashion you have to give it to Polo. As a lover of Ralph Lauren's signature preppy flare I would love to own that blazer Team USA will be marching in with, but at a retail price of $625, I think I will stick to Urban Outfitters.

Tune in tonight at 8pm for all the Opening Ceremony festivities, and make sure you peep all the international fashion on display; I know I will!!

Project Runway Turns Red, White & Blue

Top row: Blayne, Daniel, Jennifer, Jerell, Joe, Keith, Kelli
Bottom row: Kenley, Korto, Leanne, Stella, Suede, Terri

At first I wasn't excited for last night's Project Runway but, after watching the episode I must say I got into the outfits. My top 3 D R U M R O L L .... Daniel, Jerell and Kenley. Daniel's dress gave me Victoria Beckahm tease. As The Intellect stated: "I could see Vicky B. saying in her british accent "Hello America" in that dress". I must say out of everyone I like Jerell alot. Not just his designs but, his personality. I'm free spirited and easy going and he gives me the same vibe. I hope he goes far in the show. His design was very Long Island Mom. With the Horse Racing hat and blouse I Got My Life. Last but not least is my other favorite; Kenley. The Intellect stated: "Her outfit didn't really give me what I wanted", my reply: "But get into the blouse and pattern of the high waisted skirt". I think she should have paired it with a red shoe to go with the theme but nonetheless I went up for the outfit. Everytime I'm about to say deuces to Project Runway they do something to pull me back. Keep it up Heidi, that's what a show is suppose to do. Disappoint but, right at the last minute pull you in.

Oops! Looks Like Someone Forgot the Bronzer

There is a new controversy swirling around R&B juggernaut Beyonce. Since 2001 Bey has been a spokesperson for L'Oreal cosmetics. Well in her newest print ad it looks like Mrs. Carter forgot the bronzer. Now I can see why everyone is up in arms about this ad, I mean she does like any light skin chick I know with a too long weave, but you people need to realize that this is Beyonce!!! Hell one day this chick is rocking the Hispanic baby hairs, the next she got the white girl blond all down her back, then she gets back to her roots and lets her scalp breath by putting on a beanie (lol). All in all the funniest thing about this "controversy" is L'Oreal's response stating that they did not lighten Byeonce's skin or hair and in fact they never photoshopped anything!! LMAO, THEY DIDN'T PHOTOSHOP!!!! That's a damn lie or as Satina would say L'Oreal is a pickle. Anywho I found this to be funny, so you be the judge is L'Oreal trying to turn Bey into a sellout or is this a case of photo shopping gone wrong.

Emergency Posting - Go Off Solonge!

Im not much of a Solange fan. And no I dont like the song because its my name, but I REALLY like this song. Im feeling the vibe, the whole package of the song. I know im like days late, which in blog talk is years but who cares better late than never. For the longest I think I had a thing against Miss Solange, I felt as if. . her artistry was faux .. and partly contrived by her label to appeal to the more.. uptown neo-rocker ipod carrying hipster. Whatever. I like this. I have a good ear to authenticity, and I can feel this one. Kudos Solo, now I just MIGHT be looking out for that album to drop.

No pictures. Just the damn song. Like it or love it. Im choosing the later.

Monica is BIZZACK!!! You ready?

Now for those of you who may not know (which is probably many of you) I am in LOOOOOOOVE with Monica. Not so much the "Miss Thang" Monica, but more "After The Storm . .The Makings of Me" Monica. Anywhoo, for those that didnt know .. Miss Mo has a mini-series chronicling the creation of her new body of work. It aired yesterday. . but as far as I know only on Peachtree Tv, a station down in ATL and in Canada for some reason. Go figure. But thats what youtube is for people! Heres a snippet of the new single "Still Standing" off the upcoming album produced by r&b hitmaker Brian Michael-Cox featuring the one and only Luda! Even if I didnt love it I would still lie because its Monica.

Im just so excited. I cant wait for her album to drop this year. People can say what they want about Mo but shes one of the realest out there. She will never sacrifice her integrity to sell a couple million or do what people tell her just to make a hit. And for that I respect her, and if it means she will continue to flop so be it! Monica isnt going anywhere. Like Mo said herself, "haters are everywhere and you cant allow that to take your focus or you will lose your ground." Aint that it? WE LOVE YOU MO!!!

Usher Crawls Back To MOM-ager

According to E! News, Usher has fired Benny Medina and rehired his old MOM-ager Jonnetta Patton. We all know that the reason Usher fired Medina was due to the poor sales of his latest cd "Here I Stand". Usher's last album confessions sold 19 millions copies under the management of his mother. But, with 'Here I Stand' he barely reached 2 million. The Here I Stand cd was Usher and Medina's first venture together. There was talk that Usher was furious when he heard of the disappointing sells of his album. I personally liked the latest album. It showed alot of maturity in Usher. It showed him as not only a man but, a husband and father. Usher probably felt that because he was baring this new side it would result in huge sales. But, on the contrary it resulted in a semi-FLOP, well atleast for a star like Usher. It's just that with all the publicity Usher had going on with the firing of his mother, the birth of Usher V, and the normal Tameka drama I feel the album didn't get enough publicity. The first video "Love In This Club" was dope and the remix featuring Mrs. Hova got mad air play but, I don't think it was enough to make fans go out and buy the album. The one thing Usher could have done was leave the original release which I believe was around September. But, that is all in the past. All that matters now is that Usher is back with his MOM-ager and now hopefully he can do another album once this one blows over and he can get his stats back up. Now if he comes out with another album and still suffers from poor album sells I think it may be time for a another gimmick. If all else fails I'd go up for a "She's All That: Reunion" movie or Faculty Part Dos!

Rihanna Coonery

Here is a video of Rihanna performing at MTV's Italia’s Mobile Bang. For anybody who went to the Glow In The Dark Tour you've seen her cover of M.I.A's "Paper Planes" and an array of other popular songs. Now I had no problem with her doing this at G.I.T.D because I knew Kanye West was coming after her so I paid it. But, she is now performing these songs all around the world. It dates back to the old saying "There is a right place and a right time for everything". I just feel that certain songs should be kept to the original artist especially performance wise. I can't be mad at M.I.A and Lauryn Hill though, they have to keep the checks coming in some how. With that said I say stick to the edgy songs like Breakin` Dishes and Disturbia Rih Rih.

So, just for that I post below the real M.I.A. "Paper Planes" Video.

Where's My 40 Acres and a Mule???

On July 29, 2008, Congress formally apologized to Black Americans for the institution of slavery and the subsequent Jim Crow laws that systematically kept blacks in unequal standing with their white counterparts. For weeks the news surrounding Congress' decision to make amends to the descendants of slaves has led many black groups to bring up the question of the promised reparations for slaves and their descendants. However, one prominent black leader that is opposed to the idea of issuing reparations to blacks is Barack Obama. Citing the flexibility of the word reparation, Obama wants Congress to look into combating issues in inner city schools, health care, and economic hardships for all as a way to resolve the issue of reparations.

I personally agree with Obama. To actually think that the government will give every descendant of slaves reparations is both unfeasible and a step back from all the rights we fought for during the Civil Rights Movement. The value of 40 acres of land today is well over one million dollars and with the state of our economy, the idea of receiving this promised land is unfathomable. Secondly, in the wake of all the drastic changes that are taking place in Black America, to actually want to receive government handouts for something that occurred in the past is a step back from what we have accomplished. Just the idea of Congress apologizing for slavery and of there being a Black presidential nominee proves that we as a united Black America should not want to dwell on the horrors of slavery, but learn from our ancestors and do for ourselves without that 40 acres and a mule and uplift ourselves form bondage. With that being said, I agree that the way to make up for the damage of slavery and Jim Crow is to properly educate Blacks so that we will be able to compete for the top jobs, know how to take care of our bodies, and how to deal with those who wish to destroy our way of life through gangs and drugs. It is time we stop blaming Whites for everything and it's time we take our life, community, and destiny in our own hands.

I leave you with a quote "A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes." Mohandas Gandhi
I think it's time we starting thinking that we shall overcome, instead of just singing about it.

Teens With Bank Rolls: Forbes Edition

Forbes recently released it's list of the wealthiest teenage celebrities.

#5. Vanessa Anne Hudgens, $3.2 Million
Surviving the buzz from some indiscreet Web pictures, Hudgens, 18, is back in High School Musical 3. She's released a new album and has become a face for Neutrogena skin products and Marc Ecko sneakers.

#4. Hilary Duff 5 Million
Before Miley Cyrus, Disney phenom Hilary Duff owned the tween market. Now the former Lizzie McGuire star, 20, is striving for a more mature audience with roles in indie flicks 'Greta,' 'Safety Class' and 'War, Inc.'

#3. Ashley Tisdale 5.5 Million
Tisdale 23, heads to the big screen as Vanessa Hudgens' foil in 'High School Musical 3.' She also does voice work for the Disney Channel's animated Phineas and Ferb and endorses Red by Marc Ecko.

#2. Jonas Brothers, $12 Million
In the past year, these tween rockers, ages 15 to 20, pulled in $9 million from touring, plus another $3 million from CD sales, merchandise and television deals. In the works: a movie, a reality series and a TV drama.

AND THE RICHEST TEENAGE IS NOBODY ELSE BUT..
#1.#1. Miley Cyrus, $25 Million
Cyrus' 70-date Best of Both Worlds concert tour sold out faster than you could say 'Hannah Montana,' leaving legions of screaming girls scrambling for tickets. In the past year, the 15-year-old also sold millions of CDs, signed a book deal and began filming a movie based on her Disney Channel series. She'll soon lend her voice to an animated canine comedy, 'Bolt.'

My confusion is why Raven Symone didn't make the list. She has been listed as the 400 Million Dollar Women. I Say Recount!! Nonetheless, get into the money of these teenage superstars. Keep up the good work youth.

BANDWAGON COONERY: ANTM Cycle 11

The new promo shots have been released for America's Next Top Model Cycle 11. I don't know what to say about these pictures. I love Ty Ty Baby to death But, can someone say overkill? I love how Tyra teaches young ladies skills to get ahead in the fashion game but, after the show what do the winners do? I've seen some of them in simple spreads/runways but, I've seen none of them do anything worth going up over. Here's an idea; Tyra should take all the winners from the past cycle's and put them into one house. Have all of them compete for the ultimate title "America's Best Top Model" and a prize of $200,000. It would give us viewers a break from the lateness the antm challenges have evolved into. Talk about a hot idea: Imagine Saleisha, Eva and Dani competing in a walk off. Talk about shade being thrown. Maybe word will spread of my idea and it will get put into the works. Now if I see my idea on air I will be expecting my cut from Ty Ty Baby's camp. Well with that said get into the picture above of the new contestants and a video below of all the past winners.

Tyra Banks Is Michelle Obama For Bazaar

I must say I love these pictures. Usually Tyra does alot when it comes to doing a spread but, she captured Michelle Obama perfectly. I love the presidential air of these pictures. The way Tyra holds her head and smiles gives me Michelle O swag to the T! Tyra was quoted saying: "With Barack Obama, his becoming president is them becoming president because Michelle was there from the beginning. Without Michelle, he wouldn't be there." Or, as she pronounces to her Tyra Banks Show camera after her Oval Office portrait, "Michelle Obama, you're one hot mama." I love the simplicity of what Tyra said about The Obama's. The Obama's are the family everyone loves. They show black love at it's finest. When you see Barack you see Michelle. They show that black families can work as a team. Now we just have to wait til` November when he finally wins the prize. As The Intellect would say we'll definitely be in DC in January for Barack's inauguration. At first I wasn't sure about Tyra working on becoming the next Oprah but with the ways things are going she may take the crown when Ole' O resigns. Keep up the Good Work Ty Ty Baby.

Coonery Meets Hollywood In The Form Of New York

A quote from VH1.com:
"New York is ready to tackle her other life dream: super stardom. Don’t get it wrong - New York is already a star but she wants to be on the A-list – as a legit actress.

In order to focus on her new mission, New York has to put her last conquest, Tailor Made, on the back burner as she tries to take on Tinsel Town. She’s moving out west to see if she can climb the Hollywood ladder. Question is, will she reach for the stars or fall flat on her face?"

I don't know if I'm appalled at the fact VH1 gave this mess another show or that people are actually excited about the premeire. I give props to VH1 for pulling themselves up to the level of MTV with reality TV shows but DAMN! How much coonery can one network put out. First, Flavor Of Love (1&2), then I Love New York (1&2), and last but not least Charm School. They all consist of the same cast and same plot: To Make Black People Look a Monkey (Sorry for my coon-ish slang). I just hope that by VH1 giving New York this last show they see how late she really is. I won't be able to tune in to watch this hot mess tonight But with all the clips VH1 has online I'll be caught up in no time. The show New York Goes to Hollywood premiers tonight on VH1 at 10pm. Tune in to see COONERY at it's finest. Maybe VH1 will send viewers a bucket of chicken, some malt liquor and some kool-aid.

Some Randon Coonery

This is the video to Bow Wow's new single "Marco Polo" Featuring Mr. Gucci Bandanna himself Soulja Boy. I've never liked Bow Wow but, I at least respected his hustle. After watching this video I've realized he has no hustle. I don't know if I should start with the whack clothes in the video or the ghetto hoochies. Bow, we all understand your 21 now but, you don't have to try to act hood. You've probably never even lived in the hood and we're fine with that. Face It, You'll never get your street cred. Stick to club hopping with fellow D-lister Omarion. Speaking of Omarion does he even have a record deal anymore? Can anyone say D-List much? Peep the video and let me know what you think!

Also F.Y.I if I see anyone doing the Marco Polo dance I will be forced to kill you!
(jaylen puts his head down and walks off..)

i don't need no introduction to this

Is Cassie The Official Girl?

Peep the preview for Cassie's new video "Official Girl". Her album which is still untitled is set to be released in 2009. I just hope that Diddy doesn't diagnose it with Michelle Williams syndrome at the last minute. Let's all pray for Cassie. I'm excited for this new video. After seeing the stills, Cassie is giving me semi-life. Everywhere she goes she is beat for filth. Be prepared for the "Official Girl" video premiering August 22nd, 2008 on FMN via MTV.

Alicia Keys "SuperWoman"

When "As I Am" dropped, "SuperWoman" was not one of my favorite tracks nor, is the video. But, I adore Alicia Keys' hustle. It's great to have a beautiful, talented, musician for the young women to look up to. Her lyrics aren't degrading and they convey that a woman can be sensual and classy. I say keep up the good work Alicia. This is dedicated to the #1 Superwoman in my life "Mi Madre" and of course The Intellect who is the Superwoman of this site. With that said, Here is Alicia Keys' "Superwoman".

HEAR THIS :: SANTOGOLD & DIPLO - "TOP RANKING" MIXTAPE

You're already up on Santogold right? If not, god bless the radio. Lemme catch you up to speed right quick::

Exactly. What else would you expect out of Brooklyn?

Anyways, Santi has teamed up with turntable mixmaster/producer/DJ delight Diplo (M.I.A.'s ex-boyfriend) to produce some of his best work since the Piracy Funds Terrorism vol 1 mixtape several years ago. Top Ranking mixtape is a 75 minute blend of unreleased cuts with hints of club, dub, old school, hip hop, dancehall, reggae and 2 step. In a typical Diplo fashion you can also expect tracks from other artists to create of sense of the direction they were going and what influenced the composition .. so expect to hear Ratatat, Warrior Queen, Three 6 Mafia, Tony Matterhorn, Radioclit, Benga, and Barrington Levy among many others on there.

I was bumping this all day Saturday when Jaylen and I made a B-line for the local mall. It was a FOOL on tax-free weekend, but that's an entirely different blog entry.

This is a track UNRELEASED not on the CD called Starstruck

Lets test our luck with the RIAA and see if they mind me posting this joint off the compilation. "Guns of Brooklyn" is a top notch cover of the CLASSICCCCCCCC "Guns of Brixton" by The Clash. Santogold has an everlasting place deep down in my heart! Mad breezy! All I need is some Vodka & Schnapps.

Exclusive Pics of Bradgelina Twins

Courtesy of People Magazine, We present to you Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline. I knew People Magazine would be the first to photograph the new family. It hasn't been stated yet but, I know People probably paid about 10 million to photograph Jolie-Pitts newest additions. Jolie was quoted as saying:"It is chaos, but we are managing it and having a wonderful time". I could only imagine what it's like having twins and 4 other children ranging from Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2. But, with the celebrity lifestyle of Jolie and Pitt they could care less. They can not only hire help but, with the ages of their current children they should be more than able to lend a helping hand. Pitt says: Fortunately, they already have some household helpers. "[Shiloh] and Z pick out [the twins'] clothes and help change and hold them," says Jolie. "It's sweet – they are little mommies." I can only imagine how it looks in that house with the variety and ethnicity of all those children. I say GO OFF "Family Of Diversity". Make sure you go out and pick up the full issue of People Magazine on stands today; Monday, August 4th, 2008.

Something to Simmer On (Weekend Edition)

So as many people who know me can tell you, I am not a fan of most rap music (I love conscience rap; Common, Mos Def, Lupe, etc). Anyway, as my old roommates (tear) can attest to I hate all things Lil Wayne. Am I hater, not in the least, I respect his hustle in everyway but if I have to hear that damn Mili song one more time...I don't even know how to finsih that sentence!!! But as I was surfing through youtube I came upon this unsigned acoustic artist named Brad Doggett. His covers of popular songs reflect his muscial abilities on both the guitar and piano, however when I saw his cover of Lil Wayne's Lollipop I became an instant fan!! This song in everyway emnbodes the orignial Wheezy version with a touch of Johm Mayer soul. So peep his youtube video below and go and check out his other videos on the site. Who knows maybe acoustic Lil Wayne will open me up to rap....Sike!!!

***UPDATE***
Brad is from D.C (yae!!) and he has another song from Lil Wayne posted. This is for you Bri!!
